I've been having troubles with my Nether Portal I built at the top of a tower near the sky box. I first entered it and everything ran smoothly, no problems. Spawned me in a nice spot with a good view of everything, I proceeded to encase the portal in cobblestone as to protect it from Ghasts and the sort, then upon trying to re-enter the portal recently its been freezing at the load screen "Entering The Nether". I've tried making new portals in various places but to no avail, same thing. I can enter The Nether on my other seeds, and my friend's games, but just not this seed. I have made it a point to play on Hard mode, and I've done a lot of painstaking work with leveling, enchanting, building, and collecting. I could really use some help if anybody is listening to help me figure out, or resolve this problem if at all possible. I would really hate to have to start a new Hard Survival seed just because of a bug.

Hmm... There was a bug like this, fixed in a previous update. Exact same thing would happen. Hopefully they can easily patch it again. Hope this helps, when they fixed it, I didn't have to make a new world.

I moved all my savegames to the cloud, reinstaled minecraft then build an other portal in creative, that worked so I quit the game without saving it, then I used my portal in survival and it didn't freeze on me! Can't tell what part in that process resolved my nether problem though! Hope that helps

Happened to me when I was on a friends world. Try clearing the cache. It works sometimes.

Fixed it. I had to make another portal way off on another part of the map. I guess it just glitched out or something. The original portal is also accessible now. Thanks for the tips though guys.

This exact thing happened to me yesterday, and I did exactly that in order to fix it.
I thought it may have had something to do with me putting Obsidian behind the portal as well, but I guess not.

I've also noticed if you're running along a wall you get caught on some invisible thing, like you clip in between some of the blocks your running against would be my guess. It only happens when sprinting I believe.
