Hopper Tubes? 0-Tick Repeaters?

And I would be AWESOME if Repeaters had a 0-tick option, so they could just make the signal stronger with no delay, unless the new compare-thing could do that instead....
How do you like my ideas?

All you have to do is put a redstone signal with a strength of 15 and a long line of comparators will output a signal strength of 15 at the end, you can even have the line alternate with redstone dust and comparators and it will stay a strength of 15.
But that is just a bug/unfinished feature I think, so don't place bets on simple instawire just yet.

Yeah, but they get input from the sides and it looks kinda ugly. (But it's better than nothing)

Oh so hoppers was originally a mod? Interesting.

But that seems a bit drawn out, so meh.

I do think pipes/tubes would be a great addition to hoppers
There is a reason there is a delay in circuits. I'd be happy with just glass(so you can still see the signal strength) insulated wire to keep lines from crossing.

I'd be all for the tubes, but until then creative use of chest minecarts or water flows will do the trick. Dispensers to dispense items, hoppers to collect them, detector rails, so many possibilities now...
the 0 tick repeaters are indeed a function of the comparator, which had sethbling all giddy. He obsessed with it even more than the hopper, so there must be some incredible value to this I'm not seeing.

Of course Mojang has said several time that they will not be adding pipes to the game.
Minecarts are meant to be the real solution to moving goods over longer distances.

I'd like you to understand how things work before you use capital letters to exclaim your point. You obviously do not know anything copyright.
Hint: just because you wrote a program for Windows doesn't make that program Microsoft's property.
The mods were written by modders, therefore the modders own the full rights to their mods. This is pretty default in any copyright law in any country: the copyright of a work is assigned to it's creator. You'd need to transfer copyright for this to be different. Mojang's TOS permits people to modify and distribute modificated parts of the game, and it even mentions that the modders retain the right of the things they write from scratch. (That is all the code other than the minecraft code.)
Mojang doesn't own a single thing from the mods except the minecraft code which the modders used. If mojang were to use the code written by a modder without his/her permission, it'd be a criminal offense under the US law. Mojang lives in Sweden, so the incredibly flawed US law doesn't apply there, but it will at the very least get an injunction order.
So, how come mojang can add content from mods to their game? It's pretty simple: the modder owns the source code, binary code, graphics and sound, but not the idea. The copyright law states that ideas are not protected; you'd need a patent for that. Mojang can add content similar to that of an existing mod to their game provided that they create everything themselves from scratch.

Also, you're wrong anyways. Mojang is not an American company, US copyright law DOES NOT apply. And you would be wise to read this in full before making any such assumptions:
https://minecraft.net/terms
Long story short, Mojang can do whatever they want with any mods that are made for Minecraft. However, they usually ask first and respect the creator of the mod, unless it is a real-life adaption, such as the hopper, or carrots, or potatoes, and so forth.
Edit: It should be noted that the above does not include textures and the like.

I'm not sure how you got "hoppers being a mod" from "tubes are stealing from BuildCraft" lol.
But ironically, they actually were a mod, sort of. Check out The Allocator mod.
No. Stop.
