Oh very nice I am looking forward to these soul plants sound nice for those who don't want to set up some giant structure in order to get massive amounts of mob drops. Also if I have a world already set up in 1.5.1 will ores still spawn in or will I need to go load other chunks?
You will need to load new chunks or if you have Mystcraft installed create a new age and they will spawn there to.

Update 1.5.1.2.0 is out! Download it from the first post, this is still beta and some things may not work fully but hopefully nothing to break your existing worlds. There is a lot of changes for people that used 1.1 before, and for people that used 1.5 beta there isn't much changed.
Please try it out and let me know what you find, and or what you think.
Known bugs:
- Magical crops can't be fertilized.
- When drinking a potion, it will return the potion back to you.

Sorry the OP is still under construction. I am working on adding recipe images and information on the mod. Sorry about this, if you have NEI you can find out what the recipes are that way for the mod.

So I downloaded this mod. Which i probably should not have. Your OP contained NO recipes, NO screenshots and NO details on ANY of the items. I have no idea what to do, what anything does and I have high thoughts towards removing it. When you make a mod, and a post INCLUDE THAT IN THE POST not no "You can use NEI and Craft Guide" of course we can use that, but we would like to know BEFORE HAND.
If i can suggest you, i'll make an addon for all those crops that are used only by mods. I mean, make a "core" with all the crops and the instruments for vanilla users, than an addon for every Tecnical mods. So, it can be maybe:

Ok first of all sorry about this, second calm down a little, third I didn't have time to finish the OP fully when I released the new update. I have other things to do and they came first, I am currently editing the OP as we speak, so hopefully it will help you soon.

Really looking forward to the ability to change drop rates on essence ore and plant seeds in the config. We have been using this mod since day one, I love the mod but we had to make the hard choice of removing it from our survival server. Getting the essence is a small challenge but once you have it the resources just seem too easy to get and too easy to maintain.

It's 40% now? Holy cow. Yeah, I think I'll be sticking to the 1.4.7 version I have that's quite old now, and the chance is quite low, until that's editable in the config.
Aside from that, I'm happy to see this updated! I look forward to what new progress comes from this mod.

Yes.
As the mod is at the moment you basically spend some time gathering essence then you trade that essence for seeds to get resources (best part of the mod). Once you have those seeds you now have an unlimited source. (might as well have switched to creative) Very overpowered.
When there was a chance that you would not get a seed back the seeds were very valuable, simply meant there was a chance you would have to mine more essence, now I see having several chest full of seeds. Also the plants do not break when trampled so no concern about mobs. I thought the 0-4 seed drop was more balanced. You might get 0 but you could get 4.
If the weak essence drops were adjustable to a reasonable rate, that could make up for any 0 seed drops from plants.
If there were more config options like: -Adjustable weak essence drops from plants. Dropping more essence from plants would be the advantage of having larger fields. -Adjustable chance of seed drop from mature plant and no seed drop from immature plants. -# of essence drops from ore. -Adjustable spawn weight for ore.
Instead of being just another mod that provides unlimited resources, there could be some configurable dynamics that would serve to compliment Minecraft and other mods.
I was sad to see the diffuser go.
After testing the latest version it seems that I always get 2 seeds back.

The problem I have with the chance to get no seeds is for the people that want to farm instead of mining all the time, but this can be fixed via cofigs. Hopefully will get that sorted. ok mark i have looked at your mod for a while now and there is only one thing that would make this mod perfect.... A way to grow the magical essence
I know that people will say that it would make the mod overpowered so here are the limitations on it: Recipe: 8 diamond blocks and extreme 1 extreme magic essence Growing: needs to be directly next to water, like reeds. Takes 5 minecraft days to grow. Limitations: After you plant one, you only get 1 seed back after harvest

Okay i found it....but you could do this and cancel the essence drops on the other plants, that way its not to overpowered.
