I've been playing Legend of Dungeon lately and I like it, but I have seen something that would be useful in adventure maps, you have swords and helmets which make you stronger and/or weaker. Could it be possible for someone to make a mod which allows you to wear armor/use weapons which give you a potion effect as long as you hold/wear it?
Thanks in advance.
P.S. Sorry if I made any grammar errors, I'm from holland.
Is what you mean like you have a stone sword of speed, and if you're holding it, you get a speed 2 buff? or you have armor of fire resistance? That would work, and I'm actually surprised that minecraft hasn't included that yet. I think that you've got to be holding the item in your hand (unless it's armor, then it must be equipped) for it to take effect, or else it would become pretty OP, as you could get regen, strength, speed, fire resistance, blast resistance and resistance all at once.

Yeah, you understand what I mean, like a Weak stone sword of protection would give you weakness I & protection I and a cursed iron breastplate of speed would give you wither I and speed I, that's the kind of mod i'd like.
So here is how I think you should get buffed items, first you need a potion and a book, then you put both in the anvil, book first, then the potion. Then you get a buffed book, next thing you do is the same as using an enchanted book, put the buffed book in the 2nd slot and the weapon/armor in the first slot, then you get a buffed weapon/armor.
I've actually been thinking about this idea recently. Under certain circumstances, I think it would be a great idea. I wouldn't consider adding things like Regen and such, as that would just end up being over powered if it wasn't pair with something like Weakness. What made me think about this was because I'm currently making an adventure map, and I thought it would be cool to have equipment that had side-effects to it's normal statistics. For example, you could have a really powerful sword, but it would be paired with a Weakness effect. I'm a little disappointed that there is currently no way to do this with actual items. Maybe someone like SethBling might be clever enough to make a MCEdit filter that allows us to do that sort of stuff? (I doubt it'll happen, I honestly have no idea if it is even possible, but we'll have to see)
I think it is a great idea it is a bit similar to the enchante bokks but they are only enchantments i think you could mention this to mojang possibly because it is a cool idea or you get someone/do it yourself and make it because i thnk a lot of map makers would use it beacuse you could make a sword that gives lava resistance and you have to run thriugh lava and fight nether mobs eg zombiepigmen, blaze, magma creams but yeah i think you should stick to it beacuse it is a great idea

sorry for the mistakes
Thanks for the support, i'm not sure if i'm going to mention this to mojang yet, maybe later if more people approve this idea.

Yeah, maybe it should be that if you buff it, you get a random debuff, and a way to remove the debuff, but that would be very expensive. Thanks for the support!

I think maybe a new item, that needs to be crafted using enchantment table, anvil and a cauldron (and maybe lapis) I think it makes sense that way. A cauldron for the potion bit and the anvil and enchanting table for the rest. Then, when you right click the new item, three inventory slots come out; one for the potion, one for the book and the last for the armor. I like your idea.

I have a new idea of how to buff your weapons/armors.
First you need a special beacon, created by crafting a beacon with a second nether star, some iron, an enchantment table & an brewing stand. Then you will get a beacon that not only has all the potion effects, but also allows the buffing of weapons. Just put the weapon in the place that you would normally put iron, gold, diamond etc. in, and select your buff.
But that's really cheap, so buffing a weapon with a positive and a negative effect would cost, 20-25 levels. Only a positive effect costs 40-45 levels. And for the creative player and the map maker, there would be buffed books in the Creative Inventory.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, but what I want is a mod that adds books which act like enchanted books, but give a potion effect instead of an enchantment.

And by the way, how do you make a poll?
