When they spawn, players will have nothing and be unable to obtain items. This is completely normal! Players should not beg admins/ops for items, creative or survival mode. Like Survival Games, the players will most likely all rush for the chest at once to get items once the bedrock has been removed. An op will make sure more than one player gets the tools, and that they are shared between players.
Some players may choose to create groups to share their items with, instead of sharing it with random players. This is okay! It is also encouraged to divide into small groups so players do not fight over supplies. When the server is launched, it may be decided that dividing into groups is mandatory to reduce fighting and increase the time spent playing.
The server is not exactly 24/7, and will be up whenever I post it is. It is not my fault if you don't realize that the server is up; it is also not my fault if you cannot join the server. The server is vanilla adventure, so no plugins will interfere with playing. Players, after dividing into groups, should immediately leave the spawn area!
The idea for the server originally came when Adventure Mode was tweaked to let you build and destroy with tools. I loaded up a world with bonus chest on, took the axe and food out of the chest, and got to work!
After that, I decided to look around for servers that had tried the Adventure Mode gameplay. (It seems most people think the adventure mode tag means you adventure, not that you're in adventure mode.) No luck. I tried to set up a server that gave you items on respawn; the only plugins that gave you kits on respawn were outdated or overly complicated, with unneccesary commands and variables that cluttered up the help and permissions files. I tried to fix this with command blocks but was unable to set up the commands correctly.
Then, today, I decided to use the Bonus Chest and make players cooperate and share the starting resources. Players would have to trade and divide into groups and towns in order to survive.
