The bright pink color is a placeholder on the clock item's texture. It is replaced by the clock face which is rotated a certain amount depending on the time of day. Something about that texture replacement is not working for you. Maybe it's a shader, some graphics option, or some part of Optifine... but Somnia doesn't touch any of these things.
I don't know what to tell you. If the cause is truly Somnia, I'll eat my hat. Wait, I don't have a hat. I'll eat Notch's hat.
Edit: It's also telling that you're the first and only person who's ever had this problem. What other mods are you using?
looks like the problem may not be with somnia after all. after messing with some optifine settings, i replicated the glitch. well, sorry to waste your time.
Cool. Thanks for the amazingly quick reply! It's a shame that it's going to be such a pain because it's soo awesome on SP. It works sooo well with mods like IC2 and BC and my server runs those. Also, will the server version be forge compatible too?
Thanks! I'm glad you get such use out of the mod.
Yeah, I'll aim to have it work with and without Forge, like the current version of the client mod.
Thanks. Let me know if you find anything. In the meantime, I'll run some tests of my own and keep looking for the cause of your problems.
I asked a few people, it seems they have noticed that particle effects seem to "stack" while simulating. The particles appear then animate as usual but the game seems to think they're still there, this would explain the large FPS drop after simulating.
As for mod blocks not working properly I haven't found a logical explanation for that, maybe the FPS drop and particle stacking may be related to this?
As of right now I think the main issue may be with Optifine, Somnia may just be acting as a catalyst.

Thanks again for the help.
In an effort to speed up the simulation, I avoid calling most graphics operations while you're sleeping. After all, why would I spend time doing a bunch of graphics-related operations when all you're doing is watching a progress bar? At the very beginning of the simluation, I remove all particles, and I skip the code that's supposed to spawn any during the simulation.
I don't want to shift the blame to FlowerChild; in all fairness I can't without decompiling BTW, and I'm not going to do that. However, it's possible that an Entity in BTW is spawning particles in its onUpdate method (which I do call as part of the simulation) or in the mod's OnTickInGame method instead of using the Block's randomDisplayTick method (which Somnia doesn't call). If that's the case, it would spawn a bunch of particles without ever removing them, and that would slow things down. Still, once the simulation ends, it should animate those particles and remove them.
I will post some details of the simulation to the OP here so other modders can make sure their mods simulate correctly. If you would call FlowerChild's attention to it, perhaps he can address it on his end. If it's something I need to address, hopefully he'll let me know.
Edit: I've added a bunch of information under the FAQ. It's under the question "How does Somnia work?"
Edit 2: I found your thread on the BTW forum. The example given by Stormweaver got me thinking that it may not be a problem with BTW after all. Could you send me a world where you've experienced this problem? I'd like to see if I can address it on my end.

I'll see if I can get him to take a look, hes notoriously hard to get in contact with.
Would you prefer I put the world up for download on Mediafire, or directly E-mail it to you?

Yeah, don't bug FlowerChild just yet. I want to see if I can address it on my end. Plus, there's still the redstone issue to explore, and that's probably something on my end too.
Mediafire or Dropbox is best. If you wouldn't mind posting a few signs in the world to guide me around, that would help a lot. Thanks.

The world download. I hope I did a good enough job with the signs, then again its more or less self explanatory. It should be easy enough to see the effects.
I'm not sure if the world will crash with out some of these (It WILL crash without BTW obviously), I have:
-Modloader
-Better Than Wolves 3.492
-Optfine MT A4
-Timber!
-Better Ore Distribution 2.1.1
-Too many Items
-Somnia v18
If I was too vague with anything tell me and I'll try to better explain.

Ok, I was able to reproduce the lag problem with Somnia v18. I think I've found a way to address it too. A fix will be in v19.
I'd also like to fix the redstone problem you were seeing, though. I see a buddy block as part of the structure right next to the bed, but I can't figure out what it's supposed to be doing. (I've never used BTW myself.) Can you explain a bit about what that machine does while you're awake, and what part of it doesn't work while you're asleep? Or is there another machine that serves as a better example?

Alright sweet! I'm so glad that this can be fixed!
Both of the structures use the buddy block, one is to form unfired pottery the other is my prototype of an automatic kiln. The problem was with the auto kiln but, I did some toying with the auto kiln and I believe the problem with the redstone may have been a fault on my part, I changed a little bit of the redstone and I currently cannot reproduce the previous results.

I think that buddy block there is a part of a monostable circuit. (The buddy block is a kind of BUD, except it doesn't take advantage of the vanilla bug.)
Playing since Beta 1.3_01. Yeah. I like BTW. Or used to. Still do. Stuff Technic. (Back in the day...)

Well, I went to sleep in the world you provided, and the auto kiln had produced a couple dozen pots when I woke up. I guess that means it's working.
As for the machine that forms unfired pottery, I couldn't find its inputs and outputs. I'm going to post v19, but please let me know if you still see problems.
Fixed an issue where blocks that broke while asleep accumulated particles and caused lag after waking.
Optimizations for slightly faster simulation.
Corrected calculation of speed multiplier. Note: the simulation is not any slower than before (in fact it's a bit faster), but you will see your multiplier drop because it was calculated incorrectly.

I really love this mod, so I decided to make a mod showcase of it!
I used the v19 version, I hope you like it.
I'm a YouTube Partner, with almost 2300 subs, so this may give your mod some more attention.
Anyway, here is the video. Feel free to use it for anything you want :wink.gif:

I have installed this mod on Minecraft 1.1.0, newest ModLoader and newest version of the mod. When I sleep I don't see any difference from what it usually does. Using a clock doesn't work either. My ModLoader.cfg and ModLoader.txt both see the mod (ModLoader.txt shows that it's injected perfectly), and it creates a config file for the mod.

Did you install it by copying the .zip to .minecraft/mods or by copying its contents into the minecraft.jar file? If you're using just ModLoader (and not Minecraft Forge), you must copy the contents of Somnia's .zip file into minecraft.jar.

Hi, I come here with a similar issue with BTW and somnia v19. I've also made an automatic kiln (not my design I take the one from Battosay52 vids HERE)
To make it short, sometimes the machinery works and sometimes bugs when I sleep.
It seems that when sleeping, the pottery doesn't cook and messes up the kiln. In fact I'm using pistons to eject cooked pottery from the kiln and sometimes the piston just pushes the pottery block and because of that, the other piston too.
This isn't a timing issue because it worked if I don't sleep and it still doesn't work if I put a much longer delay for cooking and sleep again.

Can you upload your world somewhere? It'd save me the time of having to build that myself, and it ensures I have exactly the same build for my tests.
