All non-Mojang hosted files will include a VirusTotal link to prove it's safe.

Please be aware that Minecraft assets not hosted by Mojang violate the terms of use for Minecraft and are not permitted to be posted on these forums.  Any links to third-party download services for Minecraft jar files or other Mojang assets will result in an infraction being issued.

The only one you would want to bother with is 1.7.3 since it is the most recent update with good terrain.

Other than that, I guess because of mods.

I was about to say this is illegal, but nevermind.

This could be helpful for mods though.

Is only .jar changed from version to version? I though something in "resuorces" folder should be changed too. Can I just put old .jar instead of new (1.4.6) and everything will be good?

This is absolutely legal.

Not if the assets are hosted by Mojang. I now know if they are hosted by a 3rd party it is not allowed, but if hosted by Mojang (assets.minecraft.net) it is fine. Personally I think Mojang should upload all versions of Minecraft for use with old mods.
Mojang does host older (i'm sure)
I've downloaded beta 1.7.3 from there and all (through MCNostigia)

I see some of you are saying older versions are on assets.minecraft.net, so I'll try around with more URLs.
EDIT: Advertising other places aren't going to help any. People came here looking for jars. Not your crap. Links on assets.minecraft.net I haven't posted are useful, but not on other websites. As sunperp said, non-Mojang links will result in an infraction.
EDIT: What I crossed out, what does that mean?? o.o
EDIT: OH, I meant that if I didn't know about something there then a comment of that sort would be useful, but not if it was hosted elsewhere...but who cares now, all of them are on Mojang's Amazon S3 server.

I didn't seem to see anywhere on the forum where people have posted old versions of Minecraft for use with mods that haven't been updated. So I decided to start a topic about it! I couldn't find anywhere to put this, so I put it under General Discussion. Because, you know, it's a little generic.
If you are trying to obtain cracked Minecraft, just go ahead and leave! The only files posted here is the minecraft.jar which will be no use to you unless you have the rest of the files!
So here's the jars...
1.5.x (Snapshots)
Spoiler:
1.4.x
Spoiler:
1.3.x
Spoiler:
1.2.x
Spoiler:
Snapshots? I may add them. Why not? You'll see some pop up here and there.
What about pre-releases? Ex. Beta 1.8 Pre-Release
Wow, these are old... :D

There's mods and backdaters for this kind of thing, you know that right?

He's probably aware.  It's much easier though (at least for me, and probably others) to browse, assets instead of downloading a program, installing, then finally downloading what you originally wanted to download.

So true. And many people want the real deal, not some other crap. Sadly I can only put jars on assets.minecraft.net here. :(

I've emailed Notch asking permission to upload Beta 1.7.3. Let's hope for a "yes"! BTW- Right now every jar on assets.minecraft.net has been uploaded. :)
Are you really hope that he will answer? Seriously?
