Hi.

Here's something I did last night and a little of this morning. It's based on the floor layout of Emporer Trajans temple, part of the forum area of ancient Rome (Note: not part of the Forum Romanus, the one we commonly think of as the forum; this is just next door in a larger complex built later on the AD's) Link to source. The part that I have built is on the left hand side of the image.

Here are a few images (Warning: large):
Spoiler:

This going to be part of a much larger build, this is maybe 10% of the total. What do you guys think?

UPDATE 1

For that comment, I'll upload some screens Posted Image thanks. I use the Romecraft x64 texturepack, I wish there was a x256... but dreamers can dream.  Here are the libraries:

Here is the next stage, starting to take shape:

UPDATE 2

Ok, the next stage is finished: The Basilica Ulpia. I have to say, I really love the interior on this one, the texture pack is perfect for this. I know it may look somewhat glaring to some of you, but I tried to keep the artwork authentic. Roman art was very colourful and complex, with a lot of geometry. So, I tried to reflect it here.

But enough talk. The screenshots:
Spoiler:

The column arrangment in here is quite complex, and I actually messed up a little in the planning stage, so its one block too shallow than intended. The overall effect however is still good, I feel.

Feedback would be great!

I like this! Your block/color choices work well in combination. To my admittedly untrained eyes, it looks to be a believably realistic recreation of what the temple might well have looked like. I hope you keep us updated as work progresses.

I certainly will. I'm going from several images to make this, some 3D models, etc. However, this isn't going to be a carbon copy. In some places, I will change things to make it less boring on the eyes (flat panel walls, for example) and other things I may completely reinvent for visual effect.

I'm currently working in the library buildings either side of Trajan's column, but I dont know of you can see them very clearly in the reference image. I'll upload some more screenshots when I have them done. Thanks for the comment :)

I've made the twin libraries now, and my own re-fix of Trajan's column. Screens coming soon...

Dude, your attention to detail and depth to creativity is amazing. I dont know what texture pack you're using by it works perfectly with what you're creating. I especially like how you made the pillars. You can count on me keeping an eye on this

Looks great! Could easily be used in a Roman adventure map, an arena could be cool, not sure if I'm getting the era right though, :D

Yes you are, The colosseum was completed in 79AD by Emporer Vespasian IIRC, but thats just from the top of my head. This area of the foria was completed in something like 250AD but again, thats just a rough guess.

I think this would be a good adventure map when completed, it would play well. I have some recruitment threads to recruit some skilled people to help me too, so if you think your good enough, drop me a post/PM

Hueeee. imma be b*tching just because i'm learning history of architecture for the exams. The temple dimensions are wrong :>

How do i explain their systems. Basically the length of the temple is the front x2 + 1 and they counted with the pillars. So 6 in the front, is 6x2=12+1=13 Pillars. You dont have to change this. i'm just being .. retarded and stupid. Though, the temple looks kinda short.

Nonetheless, its a very nice build you got going, so keep it going! I lav roman and greek architecture.

gj poop.

Ah ok, I never knew that. Thanks :) I'll bear that in mind for my Templum Jupitus Optimas Maximus (Jupiter, best and greatest. He was the daddy of the Roman pantheon)

I'm following the dimensions as best I can from the image linked in the first post, the rest is just improvisation. Do you have any more advice?

Thanks MrLaurent. I was always the same, but I have found the more detailed the plans/images you are working from, the easier it is to continue. Maybe thats because it leaves little room for me to wander off course? I'm not sure. It's either that, or the project needs to be completely imaginary, I find.
