Ahem,. Tekkit Lite, the one they keep up to date, uses EE3, stop referring to Tekkit Classic like its the only one.
Yeah, it's like you are comparing all the FTB modpacks and just one modpack of technic. Don't forget those awesome packs like Technic, Voltz and Tekkit Lite! Technic is pretty awesome. Just that my PC cannot handle mo' creatures. The reason i use FTB is because there is no Forestrycraft.
Well both mod packs have Equivelent Exchange which is so OP it will make your head swim. Basically just in case you don't know what it is, it allows you turn stuff into other stuff, turning useless, abundant (renewable) stuff into something like a diamond.
So either one you go with will be OP, but of course you can just ignore EE, I don't think it is necessary.
I would suggest using feed the beast since you watch Etho play it, that way you could watch his videos to learn how to play, not like you couldn't figure out technic by watching his videos, they are like, the same thing.
OH and BTW, technic just uses the mods without the mod makers permissions, feed the beast actually gets permission, so it is nicer to the mod makers to use feed the beast.
Well, tekkit lite has EE2, verse ftb has EE3, which is less OP (although it still is in my opinion)
Anyway, I can't think of a single pro of tekkit compared to ftb. I think it has a better launcher, but really, I think gameplay is most important thing in a mod pack.
Also, I may note, ftb most likely has more people using it.
If I'm wrong, with is likely, ftb will raise above tekkit pretty soon. With yogscast and mindcrack going to ftb, more will join.

Stop talking out your ass and actually look at mod lists before talking.
Also not a single one? Like that FTB is still on 1.4.something or other but Tekkit is on 1.5.1?
Also you're responding to a post from December, LOOK AT DATES.
It seems like you are looking for a very specific minecraft experience. In that case I would strongly advise you to build your own custom modpack. I find the program MultiMC is very useful when building modpacks. It lets you have multiple instances of minecraft so you don't have to keep messing with your .minecraft folder.
Some mods I feel would fit you:
Thaumcraft 3 - Is by far my favorite mod. It has that bit of charm that is absent in most boring tech mods out there.
Lava Monsters - A new mob that spawns in lava which makes exploring near lava more... interesting. They are fully customizable allowing you to control were they spawn as well as, health, armor, attack, and spawn frequency.
Lost Books - Adds written books as a rare mob drop. It includes a list of pre-written stories. It uses vanilla minecraft's written book and so does not add any new items or blocks.
Ars Magica - Adds magic spells to minecraft. To learn these spells you must travel far and wide in search of ancient mage towers containing spell scrolls.
Twilight Forest - A new dimension with a bunch of stuff to explore and boses to fight with unique mechanics. It is geared towards mid game, so you should be good to go with iron armor.
I suggest visiting the websites of both and make the call yourself. Anything discussing Tekkit is going to devolve into a discussion about permissions which few posters ever fully understand.
I personally create my own modded minecraft experience by doing all the configs myself.

I'm not sure about that. I think, or at least hope, the minecraft community in large has moved passed that silly little event. The Technic dudes really needed a credits list that is nice to have in other modding communities, and it's cool that they got a nicely drawn one after a few months. The FTB dudes need to chill out big time and let bygones be bygones, and hopefully get back to making cool modded maps.
And really what doing all the configs yourself entails is basically clicking though and deciding which mod you would like to generate the ores. This involves changing one or two lines in a few config files from "true" to "false". Other than a few other tweaks that are totally down to personal preference that's pretty much all you have to do besides making sure you are using mods that are up to date.

I know. I've done it many times. There's lots to configure too, not just ore gen.

Right, I totally agree, but the only thing that's mandatory is to set a few mod's ore gen to false. As someone who is new to adding mods themselves, that's all they really need to do to get started. There is of course other things you may want to change, but it's not mandatory.
I like FTB. It's more polished, with more cross-mod compatability. Besides, it has pretty much everything in the technic pack that's important (Buildcraft, redpower, and industrialcraft, and a lot more)

Also on an older MC version, how is it more polished?
You mean IC2, who's author has disappeared without a trace MONTHS ago, and Red Power which has the worst update schedule?
Yeah I can see why Tekkit doesn't include them, waiting for them to update is just pointless. Both are almost totally replicated by other mods, all that's missing is crap used to make crap used to make IC2 crap, and Frames.
In complete honesty, the differences between the two dont make any of them better or worse. They are the same and what one lacks the other has, as well as some extra.
Technic and FTB make modpacks, they grew, have large communities and have their own launchers/websites. This big "fight" over which beats which is retarded, but from a mod author's point of view, I understand why they would choose FTB over Technic (in how they want distribution)
Before January 2014, everybody was getting mad at Technicpack because they made modpacks freely without gaining mod author's permissions, and they supported their community making modpacks without gaining permissions. While I admit, this is rude, I noticed the packs to select from offer tons of variety, more so than FTB can reach in a few years, and I have gotten more enjoyment out of them as you might have for FTB. Many people considered Technic Modpacks, main packs or community made as "illegal" because of many of the mod author's copyrights and terms of use, requiring permissions.
During January, Marc_IRL pointed out (simplified from here on) that mod author's content cannot be restricted. No matter how it goes, Mojang has no restrictions on any content they produce or that relies on their product, MInecraft, to run. He also stated that they had 1 way to restrict it, to not release it. You make content, it is usable by anyone who wants to use it, and you could not stop them. Any launcher any other mods and modifications to your mod and additions to your mod are allowed, if you dont want it don't release it.
So, Technic was proved to not be "illegal", and anyone who said that they were illegal got served on a silver platter. I will admit, FTB as a group is more respectful, asking mod authors for permissions to be used in their packs, but at the end of the day the average user doesn't give two cares about that stuff, they want modpacks and they want good modpacks. And their current objectives are different, Technic is improving launchers, FTB is improving and producing modpacks. Both can be negatively judged.
As for which modpacks are better, Technic, Technically(excuse my bad puns) is, better. The reason I say this is that there are hundreds if not THOUSANDS of technic modpacks. Yes the official modpacks went downhill and I hate them past 1.2.5, but the community modpacks, most of the ones I have played, out do FTB by a long shot. They, most of the time, offer a more friendly and inviting community/tech support team, are built around server play and offer a more enjoyable experience and keep me coming. Yes very few ask for mod permissions. At least 1 TECHNIC MODPACK will be more enjoyable than any FTB pack there is, and while you could say FTB is better because there are more official packs to be enjoyed and more often than mod the mod author's stance on them offers tech support from the authors for the mods they make. But I, very biasedly, say Technic modpacks beat FTB.
Also I have seen very petty and immature actions by Slowpoke, FTB founder, towards the technic creators.......... doesn't make me want to join if i was a noob to this all............ But seriously why is this whole drama even around? Use one or the other or neither. (make your own packs)
Started out as a map, then turned into a modpack, finally unto a launcher (for a full history please refer to this link http://feed-the-beast.com/media.php)
Pros:
Great modder relations
11 pack to pick from
easy server set up
Easy to use an fluid+ launcher can be easly customized
Private pack support
Easy texture pack support for certain modpack
Built in Map download
Easy bug find+ crash reporter Via the 2nd window (Console)
Active forums
Cons:
Well at this time i can't think of any due to the fact that it is to new for any real problems to surface during my experience of it
You have some faulty information there. The FTB modpack launcher does have a "private modpack" option, but it really serves absolutely no purpose. Why? Because the FTB team and some mod-makers have a made-up standard on what "copyright law" is.

Read the argument of sensical v. whiny v. absolutely confused right here:
http://forum.feed-th...-make-one.5864/
Read the entire thing,it's truly pathetic.
Technic is the one with private modpack support, not FTB's "waste a lifetime getting permissions" private modpack "support".
