Some time ago, we began a Shapeways Build Contest, which ended in November. I had a lot of great builds to go through, and picking a grand prize winner wasn't easy! There were so many great submissions, and settling on a favorite was no easy task. Today, that wait is over - let's see some winners!
First, let's take a look at our runners-up, who will each receive a $100 Shapeways gift certificate!

Temple of the Jade Serpent, by Speech500
A submission by ScottHughes
Chen Stormstout, by DeviaAnimus

All very incredible builds! Now, I had a hard time picking a winner, because frankly, every entry was very well done. Still, a winner must be chosen, and so without further delay, the winner of the Shapeways Build Contest grand prize (an awesome XBOX360) is:
The Village, by Remdir
Thank each and every participant for their hard work and amazing creations in this contest! You guys are incredible, and winner or not, everyone should be proud of their work. There were no bad entries - not a single one - and every one of them demonstrated a level of care, craftsmanship, and determination that only the awesome Minecraft community could ever hope to achieve.
More contests are always on the horizon! In the meantime, enjoy your weekend, and keep on building!
Congradulations to all of the winners! Although I do share Oliverthepten's opinion that the statue should have won.

Totally unimpressed with these builds.... let them do it in survival mode without creative or mcedit, then I'll be impressed. Any moron can copy+paste a picture into minecraft... where's the real talent?

Don't hate on it. It's a whole, WHOLE lot harder than you think, translating smooth, graceful curves, beautiful colors, and tiny details into awkward, color-fixed blocks of a set size. Not to mention the patience required--it takes hours upon hours upon hours to make a structure like these people have. I find all of the creations both elegant and brilliant; don't suggest that these are morons using a Copy/Paste function--that kind of think doesn't exist and it takes skill, so try it before you go claiming that these are a bunch of monkeys with no talent whatsoever.
I personally liked the Temple of the Jade Serpent most--the panda statue is cool, but I don't know, it just doesn't appeal so much to me. On the other hand, I think that the unnamed submission by ScottHughes deserves credit for tremendous effort on the part of making the mountains and such; I have attempted that kind of terraforming myself and found that it requires inhumane amounts of time and effort. *shivers* Anyways, all really cool stuff!
Lol, random snapshot update at the bottom. Poor little announcement, no one's going to pay it any attention.
Define Cute (choose 1): A) Creepers Aerbunnies C) Herobrine. If you chose A): You appeal to destruction and to stereotypes. If you chose B): You are a perfectly normal person, and enjoy the Aether Mod. If you chose C): Please leave the planet now before you set off a nuclear warhead--no one enjoys mass murders, however nice they might seem to you.

1.Creativity
2.Improvisiation
3.How about you build the panda statue in survival with a video of you doing it. Maybe i'll take your word.

Honestly, the panda is great, but I don't think it should've won. No, I couldn't have done it, but the submission by ScottHughes and all the detail in the temple, and the cliff. I don't actually think the winner should've won!
