:S sorry about this. I've been trying pretty hard to figure this one out myself, as I have had traincraft working in a different mod setup. I started building myself another instance in MultiMC when I couldn't get traincraft running due to the entity IDs (before you guys fixed it Now that you've updated and started using mod entity IDs, I tried to add traincraft to my current setup and I get this. This is on trying to start a new game or trying to load an existing world. It hangs after trying to load NEI, then eventually gives an out of memory error.
..seems the log's too large for pastebin so here's a dropbox link. Hope that's ok.
I noticed in my log that I also have "[WARNING] [TC] Railcraft items not loaded: part.ingot.steel". I'm not sure if that's what's causing traincraft to hang my game but, if it is, would anyone mind telling me what to do about it?
Edit: just to add, I've checked my railcraft.cfg and the modules.cfg to make sure nothing's turned off there. Nothing is. Going to have a look in my IC2 config to see if there's a problem there with steel.

No it isn't [TC] Railcraft items not loaded: part.ingot.steel but:
[Minecraft-Server] Encountered an unexpected exception OutOfMemoryError
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
[STDERR] java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded
ok. I just don't know what's causing that yet. Looking it up.. again. I have a very decent PC rig for the job and it's not like I'm going to let a memory issue stand between me and my love of trains. Thanks for the reply anyway and congrats on the update.
No, never. No one ports back. Remember this for any future versions.
Many mods port back, and many people still use 1.4.7 (FTB) and the latest update fixes all the bugs that make this mod unplayable, and porting does not take that much time...
If you mean powered rails it's easy. Take a bunch of powered rails and lay them down. Now you must supply them with power. You can put a redstone torch under the block, below the rail. You can put the redstone torch next the the rail. You can put a lever next the the rail and switch on. The power will only cover a certain distance, so you will need to add another torch or lever further along the railway line.
this standard rails) and I mean those that adds a mod, they need to work on energy, may be IC2 or UE, I did not understand how to plugged them
there are electric trains, they need energy, Redstone or IC2, charging use the GUI, but you can also use these rails, they should give the energy to train that wouldn't charge it manually
I'm having an issue of locomotives connecting, but not able to be pulled. I get two locomotives, set the rear one to "able to be pulled," then connect them. I then fuel the front one, then try to go, but the other locomotive just stays there. I've tried this with the SD70, GP30, and GP70. All of them don't work.
Just one thing that bugs me about this update. Is it possible to make it so you can actually choose the colour of the lantern, either by right clicking with a dye, or crafting it with dyes like you would to make dyed leather armour? I'm only asking because the whole "random" lantern colour thing bugs me when I want to have 2 of the same colour, which then takes spamming breaking it and re-placing it.

And, no, I certainly didn't mean to have that block ID as zero. All I can think is it was a typo during setup but, on the plus side, I now get to play with traincraft

You can't
I believe he was asking if you could make it possible. To be honest, it would be a much preferable method of doing things, and while I don't know much about coding, I can't really see a reason why it wouldn't be possible to do when so many other mods allow for similar things.
That aside, on the subject of using IC2 and/or RC, I'd suggest you edit the OP slightly so it's a bit more clear that you don't actually need to have them in order to use TrainCraft. As it is, it makes it sound as though both IC2 and RC are required in order to use TrainCraft.
I understand the added functionality and that it may be something you'd recommend, but for myself (and I'm sure others), I'm not particularly interested in having more than one mod that deals with rails and trains (or similar things). Personally speaking, I don't use IC2 and have no desire to use it and Railcraft just feels redundant for my own uses, though obviously that can't always be said for other people.
Making it a bit more clear that IC2 and RC aren't required for TrainCraft would clear up any confusion people (like Painter73 and myself) would have about the matter.
hello i havent read the thread so if this was already answered im sorry in advance... anyways the traincraft config for 1.4.7 doesnt work like when i change the item ids in the config it doesnt ghange them in game making it really hard to fix id conflicts when it is literally IMPOSSIBLE what ever i change it to in the config it doesnt change on the nei screen resulting in id conflicts.
so when i edit the config it doesnt change in game so if anyone has a fix it would be greatly appreciated!
btw im having trouble with stakes and the gas can thing i get it when i macerate adamantine (i use like 180 mods)

A stacktrace might be better in this situation, but one must ask the obvious question. Are you using 1.4.7 version of the mod, or the 1.4.7 config with 1.5 version?
wow ty for the quick response im sure it is 1.4.7 and i dont know what a stack trace is =/
edit: metallurgy has a wierd config file but i since it was only the first two ids that conflicts i just switched "item ids starts at (28500) and use the enxt 850" to "item ids starts at (28498) and use the next 850" well anyways i fixed

I see. I will think about paintable lantern.
Railcraft is required to get all items traincraft adds, indeed we use Railcraft API to add new tracks without using new block IDs. No Railcraft = you are missing 16 tracks we added.
But I see your point about the difference between "required" and "compatible"

Thanks for clearing me up, I appreciate it. I wouldn't mind using RC but as it stands there is a little incompatibility with Carpenter blocks mod (which I posted over there and should be fixed by the weekend) Once fixed, I will give it a whirl and see the tracks, I'm sure they are quite useful. However, I will never use IC2, for me its just too unstable and their config file ain't worth a crap if you need to change anything. Thanks for the trains though, they look just awesome and I can't wait to figure it all out !!!! Great job !!

IC2 unstable? I'd say it's one of the most stable mods out there, and I've been using it for two years now!

Ask yourself... why not fuel both?...

A stacktrace might be better in this situation, but one must ask the obvious question. Are you using 1.4.7 version of the mod, or the 1.4.7 config with 1.5 version?
edit: metallurgy has a wierd config file but i since it was only the first two ids that conflicts i just switched "item ids starts at (28500) and use the enxt 850" to "item ids starts at (28498) and use the next 850" well anyways i fixed
I see. I will think about paintable lantern.
Railcraft is required to get all items traincraft adds, indeed we use Railcraft API to add new tracks without using new block IDs. No Railcraft = you are missing 16 tracks we added.
But I see your point about the difference between "required" and "compatible"

IC2 unstable? I'd say it's one of the most stable mods out there, and I've been using it for two years now!
