New to Minecraft as of today.  Keep spawning on small islands for some reason.  Even if I have enough wood to make a boat, as I explore the map I just keep encountering small islands. Is this normal?

In either case can I change that?  I'd like a much larger land mass to play on.

Create a new world. Minecraft worlds generate completely randomly, so you could spawn on an array of little islands or one big world. You can also search for minecraft seeds, minecraft seeds choose how the world generates so if you wanted a world where you spawn in a jungle, you could find a seed like that. To enter a seed you can type it in on the options when you make a new world Posted Image.

Thanks for the reply!

I understand your suggestion, but I suspect that something is wrong.  I've re-spawned 20+ times, and always get a small island (sometimes flat, sometimes 2 huge mountains, etc. but always a small island - meaning that I can see the ocean all the way around from a tall peak).

Very frustrated, and cant find any Minecraft tech support?  All this for $29?

Make sure you aren't typing the same seed. This rarely happens to me also, I would just generate a new world if it did happen to me.

Thanks, but I don't have any seed typed - just trying to play a normal, random game.

Try creatine a world with the "Large Biomes" option on so that way you will be less likely to spawn on a small mountain or something, you could still spawn on a small island if it is part of the ocean biome but if it was a small other biome large biomes would force it to be bigger. (don't quote me on this).

Thanks, did that as well many times, and just end up on a bigger island every single time.

Could something be wrong with the server?  Along with the islands, I keep spawning way under water, or completely encased in a tree, or in a mode where I just bounce up and down but cant move, etc.

This is really frustrating after just buying the game today - about to try to ask Mojang for my money back...anyone know who to contact/how to go about doing that?

I had really high expectations for this game...

Dont know if this matters, but i notice now that my 'building terrain' green bar never shows up - it just says building terrain, then quickly jumps to my island map...

Anyone know where I can go to get tech support for Minecraft, or disccuss getting my money back if I can't solve this here???

Thx

Thanks - I suspect this might be the issue..  I had a Trial account, created world fine, then bought the game and changed my account email..  Issues seem to be persistent since then.  Ive reloaded the MC launcher a couple of times to no avail, but I think this is the issue..

Can I play the game off line?  Maybe that will help...
