I made a hardcore world in Minecraft 1.3.2, and I made my house inside, at the top of a mountain.


- All the doors were closed.

- There were no other ways in

- The cave was well lit.


When I turn my back, I am thrown forward about 7-8 blocks, lose all health, and die.



- It could not be a creeper, there was no debris or flying blocks. Besides, they dont launch you 8 blocks forward.

- Where would an iron golem come from?


I really can't think of what it is. Any idea's?

Probably just a lucky skelly shot.  Were you lagging?  Because maybe there was a glitch with that.

I really can't think of what it is. Any idea's?

I don't know if you still use your old 1.3.2 Minecraft.jar or if you updated, but playing in version 1.4.5, creepers spawn just about anywhere, in well lit areas, houses, heck I got blasted by one waking up from a night sleep, inside my main house,  With about 30 torches in a 10 block radius.....

I even got my nether portal snuffed out by one that was waiting for me in the nether....Go figure, they can't spawn there and the portal is surrounded with torches/glowstone/redston lamps in in a closed room in the overworld....I teleported to the nether then 0.1 second after I teleport in, BOOOOM creeper blasts the portal....I was lucky to have some iron and flint on me or I would have died of hunger in the nether...

But that 8 block push is something creepers don't do....

Endermen. This happens to me a bit. When an Endermen bugs out from touching water at night, it freaks out. I have been killed by being in the teleport pathway.

Skeleton arrows can do 7 hearts?

Endermen I suppose would be a good guess, but with leather armour, not seven hearts.

To answer your question, the torches were made with coal.


The best guess seems to be an enderman, but how was I thrown forward eight blocks?

I say the house wasn't as well lit as you thought and a creeper detonated at close range.  Did you have any armor on at all?  Creepers are the only thing that can kill you in one shot with full health, even with full iron armor on in hard.

I don't think there's a bug with mob spawning. Not a single mob is spawning in any of my mob farms (except zombie pigmen) when the light is on.

Maybe the blocks glitched and dealt damage to you. I also hear that in no-spawn conditions, the mobs still spawn but instantly despawn right after. This instant is apparently long enough for skeletons to fire an arrow though.


Maybe many of them spawned and shot at the same time?

A skeleton with a bow enchanted with knockback could have knocked you back... But I'm not sure about you losing health that fast with leather armor. There may be a glitch where if a skeleton shoots you in the head with an arrow it causes suffocation damage like it is a solid block.
