Definitely Optifine. NEI for recepies only. Ofc its all about the word "legit", so what are the limits? if legit is pure vanilla, you can use optifine and NEI for recepies. If legit is anything that doesn't ruin the game, even FTB modpack would be legit (Nope, tekkit ≠ legit in my opinion).
If Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter were all destroyed, 90% of teens would go insane. If you're one of the 10% that would be laughing at them, copy this into your signature and hope it happens.

All of them. Even the ones that are not legit. Mod selection is just a matter of preference.

If I want to stay to the normal game, I usually use Optifine and Inventory tweaks. I haven't used better world generation except in FTB, but I would see it as fine as long as it doesn't include the new blocks, unless they're only for decoration.

I would say as long as it doesn't give you a very big advantage, and doesn't change the entire game.

Regardless of if it feels legit to you, you're only playing legit if you play vanilla. Anything else isn't necessarily cheating, but it's not vanilla.

Really depends on how you define legit. As long as the mod doesn't make the game easier or give you an advantage; I consider it legit.

To me, legit means vanilla. Mods such as Optifine are okay, but I don't consider any other mods "legit."
What is this signature thing? Is it just a means to get attention? Could it be a desperate cry for help? Maybe it's just a way to amuse one's self. On a side note, quote me if you want a response.

The 'Torch Flicker Fix' mod I suppose. But then, its more of a bug fix than a modification.

Personally i have Rei's minimap (cant stand getting lost) Better world generation (to try alpha and beta terrain) and thats all I have changed from vanilla (oh and 64x sphax pureBD textures)

But hearing some pretty interesting responses from people though, keep those opinions coming.... Posted Image

I've actually migrated away from Rei's minimap and back to the oldschool vanilla compass.  It's much better now that you can frame them and put them on a wall with compass/clock for orientation....(plus uses f3  ;p).

OptiFine is a legit mod for survival.
Unless you count removing lag spikes cheating...

I have had a 100% vanilla legit survival world since May of 2012. I only use mods like optifine, rei's minimap, and other mods that don't impact the game much. They keep everything vanilla still. (EE, IC2, and other large mods are what I mean by "impact.")

I will be putting up some pictures f my epic town soon, the outer walls are 300 blocks long a side and the central keep is nearing the height limit. All built in survival, will post pics once its complete

Legit = No forms of cheating/hacking

So mods that take effort to work on eg buildcraft that lets you have auto mining shizzle dizzle is ok beacuse you need to GET the stuff first

Its like pvp, you cant go and think your the best, you need to get that set of diamond armour first
