This happens very often. It has been around for forever! Not really a fixable bug, the properties are already for the player to go to the top of a block once you spawn.

This is really true, this happen around 75% when I generate new world!

I did not have that problem in superflat worlds. Next time, please don't use Minecraft 1.4.5.

In the first seed, your spawn was right "under" a natural tree. In the second, you spawned in a Tall Grass block. Maybe that had something to do with it?

I'm getting that really bad now myself. It was only a rare occasion before but now with 1.4.5 I die almost constantly.
Very disappointing cause I like playing hardcore.
