Bad video card drivers!
      -----------------------

Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

Either your drivers are not up to date, or there are no available drivers and you will have to wait until there are.

It is a driver faulty since most video drivers do not have proper compatibility with Windows 8.

So I will waste my time and say, updated your drivers when they're available.

If you have installed windows 8 drivers for your graphics card from the manufacturers site. (www.amd.com or www.intel.com or www.nvidia.com), but the game still doesn't work, Windows is overriding the drivers. You need to manually override them.
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Go to Device Manager (You may have to change the view of control panel to see this)
  • Expand Display Adapters by clicking on the arrow
  • Right click your graphics card and select Properties, for example, mine was named AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200
  • Go to the Driver tab
  • Click Update Driver
  • Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
  • Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
  • Select the driver that is NOT from Microsoft Corporation
  • Click Next
  • It should now install the driver software, this may take a few minutes. During the proccess your screen will go black, but it should come back shortly after, this is because in order for your computer to change your driver, it must uninstall the old driver which displays graphics on your screen
  • You have successfully changed the driver of your computer, you should not need to restart, however, if you are still failing to play, do so now

Had the same error as you too.

Windows 8 uses it's own drivers config now and it's probably incompatible with your current one.

Do what has been said above and it should work. I had a tutorial like that on this minecraft forum account as a thread.
