I downloaded a mod onto my computer for Minecraft and put it directly into the mods folder, the update bar comes up but it keeps on stopping right before the update. Am I doing something wrong?

I can't find a JAR/ZIP folder simply called "minecraft".

C:\Users\Yourcomputername\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin
You have to right click the minecraft.jar file and open with winrar.

I went into the "minecraft.jar" file using IZArc, but I can't find a folder called "META-INF".

Get winrar, Can i ask you a question, If you can't install mods, And you didn't know about the minecraft.jar. How did you install ForgeModloader or modloader?
