The Stand is great but MAN I always think that Stephen King is better with some serious judicious editing...Then again I thought the Dark Tower Series was mediocre at best so my opinions might be dumb.

To the OP if you like easy, exciting reads, the Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hern are BOSS. They are seriously great.
