If I understand the idea correctly, what the OP is suggesting is basically a "lock" which outputs a Redstone current when the correct "key" is placed into it using the GUI.  The "key" can then be collected from the opposite side of the block, if access to that area is allowed.

What I'm unclear about is how the block is set to only accept the correct "key" item, or whether the OP intended that it would trigger on any item, not just a particular item.

The principle seems like a good idea especially if Adventure mode is fixed, but the idea still needs a lot more detail before I could support it.

power a dispenser with it to eject an item on payment !
Minecraft stores without a mod !
Or, chests inside a room, but you're only allowed to leave if you pay.

I support this. It would be great for servers and adventure maps. It kills two birds with one stone!
Kills birds? Why do you have to kill them?!

I think that you need to read the whole OP before posting again.

I would post a GUI image about it, but I'm not very good at them. So I will post this quick draw instead;
(if anyone could create a GUI image for this, I would be grateful)

I've seen something like this before on the forums; it was restricted to emeralds, though, and didn't outline how one could collect the emeralds that were placed inside of it.

I liked the idea then, I still like it now.  It's fairly versatile, conceivably useful for many different functions...  Sounds like a winner.  I'm still wondering if it would be possible to make it function like a straight-up lock and key.  It'd be neat if it could be made to only accept a certain altered item (say, a gold ingot that somebody had renamed on the anvil as "Key"); it'd be a lot easier to create locked doors in adventure maps.

Yes, yes I am.  A pessimist is always either right, or pleasantly surprised.

YES! And if the Allocator is added, then you could make it possible to take back the key. Although this would be hard and even I am not sure how to create it.

I don't know, if this could be used for gambling then it would almost be promoting gambling to children who play minecraft.
One could also gamble by having the gambler hand money to an attendant.

Allow me to reword:
So, in other words, a wooden pressure plate which is restricted to certain items and has storage? (which can be half achieved if hungry chests get added)

seems like a cool idea... not something that should necessarily be added to the game.  I like minecraft because its so simple and this would make it less so.  this should, more like, be a mod/plugin

Technically, there are two lines... In the code editor it only accepts two lines, which is what I have.

Yes. I did say that it can take anything...

Yes. If you only want it as a mod, not necessarily actually in the vanilla game, that's fine. Regardless whether it is against or for, feedback is appreciated.

So now this is a cash register?  I'm sorry I can't support something if I don't know what it is or how it works, and if you don't care enough to give a proper explanation.  I've read your opening post as well as every other post numerous times and I still don't understand what this is.  And if what I do think it is, is it, then it's useless to Minecraft.  But I don't know what it is.

Also, there are numerous mods for what I think this is.  Easier to get the mod then to add in game is my suggestion.
What he's saying is, you input an item and it outputs a redstone signal. He didn't specify what would happen to the item, though...

It is being added, or at least a revision of it. I hope it still moves items between chests.

The item is put into storage, like a chest, and you can take it out from the back.

Nice, but the name is a bit misleading. This is more of a Key Lock, than a coin slot.
