What a stupid question.

How old is the netbook? what os is currently on it? do you even want windows 8? Have you tried it out to see if you like the new metro ui? Windows 8 is personal preference, why are you asking us? It is like asking us what your favourite colour should be.

If a Jewish man is free to grow his beard, a Muslim man should have that same right without being called a terrorist. If a Christian Nun is free to cover her head, a Muslim woman should have the same right without been called oppressed. No double standards!

Its also important to note that windows 8 can't run Minecraft so I think it would be better to use windows 7.

Sorry i cant give much more info.

Yes it can. You just need to download java for windows 8 and then get the updated graphics card drivers. Do a little research before saying things like that :)

No, do not put 8 on a netbook.

A good chunk (read: pretty much every single metro app) of it requires the screen resolution be above a certain point. No netbooks are above this, so the apps will not run. The main features of the OS will be nigh useless.

I would not reccomend getting windows 8 at all, but as for putting it on a netbook, i wouldn't reccomend it.

external graphics
External graphics work as well as external lungs.  Both are expensive and neither works as well as one that works internally.

Windows 8 is designed for Touch Screens. I highly doubt that your age-old Notebook has Touch Screen capabilities.

It's 1 year old, but the fans started getting annoying since a few months ago

Simple resolution: Go to your nearest Computer Hardware Store, and buy some new fans. Easy, cheaper than a new computer* and fixes the problem.

*And yes I know you're not buying a new computer.

I installed Windows 8 on my son's MSI U100 Wind.  I couldn't believe it, but it performs better than it did with Windows XP.  Only two issues, which don't really bother:
  • The 1024x600 screen resolution means that most Metro Apps won't open as the require 1024x768 minimum.  Still using the desktop mainly, so not an issue.  You can connect to an external monitor, to configure the Apps if you need to.
  • Windows 8 driver for the integrated graphics didn't support OpenGL so no Minecraft.  I grabbed the latest Windows 7 drivers and all was well.

Actually, it depends; if it's dust in your fans, then you clean out the dust. If your fans are broken, get some new ones.

If theres enough dust on the fans to cause problems there is going to be much more on the heat sinks. It is also unlikely that the fans are broken.

Who the hell at MS thought that Metro applications (I refuse to call them apps, it's a [censored to avoid infraction] of the PC application system) should only open at a resolution higher than 1024x768?

If Metro wasn't forced full screen, we wouldn't have this problem. *cough cough*

That would be pointless. Stick with 7 starter or whatever OS you have on it now. You have a netbook, which is meant strictly for web browsing and word processing. Upgrading your OS will not benefit you in any way.
