Whenever I try to start Minecraft up, it crashes. Happens in the download AND the browser version. Classic (free) Minecraft still works. This is a recent problem: I've been playing minecraft for a couple of weeks now and it happened today for the first time. I was in the "mods and texture packs" screen. I deleted a file (.zip) in the "textures" folder. It crashed (froze), I tried to restart it, didn't work. I tried restarting my computer, this didn't work either.
My operating system is windows XP, not sure about all the technical BS though.
This is a video of the crash:
Hope you can help me out!
BTW, I do have the latest version of Java.

Got it to work! I didn't know what to do so I decided to retrace my steps.
When did it crash?
Answer: When I tried to delete a file in the texture pack folder.
Conclusion: It must have something to do with those texture packs (probably the one I tried to delete... it was based off of ancient Rome).
Next logical step:
Delete texture packs.
And it worked.

I'm having a similar issue, except when I try to put in the toomanyitems mod, it won't go past a black screen to the normal Mojang screen to the single and multi-player select screen. Then I have to force an update in order for it to load up, but by doing that, gets rid of the mod I just put in. I was thinking it had something to do with having to delete the META-INF file in order to be able to run the mod, so I tried not deleting it, just to see, and it still wouldn't load up. SO, to get to my point, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix this issue and still be able to use my mod? It'd be much appreciated.

try to run it in chrome if all else fails, otherwise just browse around here until someone can accually fix it.

It was working perfectly fine up until this last patch. I suppose it could be a bug, and I guess I can just play without cheating until the issue is resolved, but where's the fun in that?
