~PokéQuest~
Just like on the GameBoy, but in Minecraft!
~About the server~
PokéQuest has been designed to provide the players with the most authentic Pokémon experience that we can provide you while playing Minecraft. In order to achieve this goal we have modded the server in several ways. The mods that we are running include:
Minecraft Forge
Pixelmon
Minecraft Custom NPCs
Fihgus's Mods (Core, teleportation and protection)
~Pixelmon~
Pixelmon is a mod for Minecraft that greatly helps us to provide an experience similar to that of the Pokémon GameBoy games. This mod adds over one hundred Pokémon to the game with textures that look just like the originals, hundreds of moves and attacks for them to use, working evolutions at levels matching when they evolve in the game and more.
Pixelmon includes a battle system identical to the one in the games with all of the same options and results. Your Minecraft inventory acts as the bag which can be accessed during the battle to use potions, burn heals, awakens, PokeBalls and so on.
You are allowed to carry six Pokémon with you at any given moment and the rest are sent to your PC where you can view their stats, moves, experience and level. The PC also allows you to store Pokémon and switch them out at any PC so that you can train dozens if you chose. PCs are located in all PokéCenters, which also have a healing stations that will be discussed later.
In order to level you must either fight wild Pokémon, fight trainer NPCs that wonder around or fight other players. Defeating wild Pokémon will often give you a drop of some sort which can be sold to an NPC vendor for coins which will be discussed later in more depth. As your Pokémon levels it will learn new moves, gain higher stats and possibly evolve.
Everything is as close to the GameBoy games as possible. Some sample pictures are in the spoilers below.

~NPCs and Quests~
Using the Minecraft NPCs mod we have managed to create a working economy with actual coins rather than text like with iconomy on bukkit, an in depth questing system with multiple ways to start quests, multiple endings on some, quests triggered by different dialog options, and so on. The NPCs will help you on your journey in return for help from you. Some pictures from some of the shop keepers are in the spoiler tag below.
Not all of them are quest givers, however. Some, such as Nurse Joy, Officer Jenny and Old Man are there simply to help confused and new players. By talking to them a dialog wheel appears and you can ask them various questions and get help with a variety of topics related to the mods. Some pictures of helpful NPCs are in the spoiler tag below.
~Gyms and Towns~
There are nine small towns built around the map, eight of them with gyms and the starter town in the center named Masara Town. Each of the towns excluding the starter town has a PokéCenter, PokéMart, Gym and several houses or buildings that may serve various purposes. Each town is themed around the gym that is in it as are the gym leader's Pokémon. Currently the eight gym leaders are the administrators to ensure that no foul play is engaged in and so that the gyms are ready to go right away.
There will be multiple gym leaders for each gym to help ensure that there is almost always a leader online. You may challenge a gym leader at any time as long as they are online. Each gym has different level Pokémon so that every few levels you can challenge another and try to get a badge.
Gym #1: Grass - Levels 10-20 - Led by Wolfgang784
Gym #2: Normal - Levels 20-25 - Led by Shortyy_oD
Gym #3: Electric - Levels 25-30 - Led by Aceshooter11
Gym #4: Fire - Levels 30-35 - Led by Babb1e
Gym #5: Rock - Levels 35-40 - Led by Pwn_U_Hax
Gym #6: Psychic - Levels 40-45 - Led by Orangeangel
Gym #7: Water - Levels 45-53 - Led by Greyp
Gym #8: Dragon - Levels 55-61 - Led by SheddiGym
~The Elite Four~
The Elite Four will be somewhat similar to the games, but not exactly. The first four players to defeat all eight gyms and collect their badges will be the first Elite Four. All players after them that collect the badges will be able to fight the Elite Four and attempt to take their place in a ladder type competition.
~For lack of a better term, teleportation doors~
As you have all noticed many times over the houses in handheld games almost never reflect the true size of the inside. The tiny house on the edge of town could actually be a mansion on the inside twice the size of the whole town. Thanks to command blocks we can do this as well to continue enhancing the authenticity of the Pokémon experience. When you try to walk into a building that may look small on the outside, you may be teleported to a larger inside. This is currently still in progress.
This is the outside of a building:

~How to install the mods~
Next you will need to download Minecraft Forge 6.3.0.341 which can be found here: http://adf.ly/673885...l-6.3.0.373.zip
Next download Minecraft Custom NPCs here: http://www.mediafire...://adf.ly/77TtM
First you will need to download Pixelmon 1.8.1 Universal which can be found here: http://adf.ly/EupIL
Next you will need to download Minecraft Forge 6.3.0.373 which can be found here: http://adf.ly/673885...l-6.3.0.373.zip
Next download Minecraft Custom NPCs here: http://adf.ly/77TtM
Now you need to go get the Minecraft Version Changer and get a fresh 1.4.2 jar.
Lasty, for the download part, you will need to download the custom NPC skins so that you can see their skins. The link for that can be found here: https://dl.dropbox.c...8/customnpcs.7z
Now, unzip forge and the custom npcs for the server files from dropbox.
Open your minecraft.jar delete meta.inf and throw in the Forge files. If there is not one already, create a "mods" folder in your .minecraft and drag Pixelmon and the Custom NPCs mod into the folder. Do NOT unzip them.
If there is not one already, create a "customnpcs" folder in your .minecraft. Create a "mob" folder inside of it and drag the "pokemon" folder that you downloaded from dropbox into there.
This should be everything that you need. If you have more trouble ask and we will do what we can to help you.
~Connection Information~
The server IP is: PokeQuest.provisionhost.com
There is no whitelist that you need to worry about.
When you spawn you will be asked to choose a Pokémon; either Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle or Eevee. Choose carefully because the choice is permanent, although you could be lucky enough to find the other starts in the wild later. After this you will spawn in Masara Town. Be sure that you talk to your mother before starting your adventure.
~Note~
There are fully working and functioning NPCs as you can see from the pictures; however they are not currently as numerous as they will be in the future. Creating complicated NPCs is a long process and we have decided to do it on the go. There are other small details that are not quite finished as well that we will be continuing to work on after launch. Thank you for your patience with these matters and I hope you enjoy your journey.
