I have found recently that the nether star isn't anywhere near as useful as it should be considering how difficult it is to get it. Especially since the wither causes so much damage to your world, even more so if you die in the fight. So, here is my idea for the nether star

My idea is an item which is a type of compass called the death compass. It is crafted like this:
Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image  where the golden apple is the nether star. This compass functions as the opposite of the normal compass. While the usual compass points to your spawn point, this compass points to the last place you died.

Agreeing with the two above posts, the death compass idea is really good. The spirit world one is interesting too, but it'd probably be a hassle to put in. Plus, if you die in a certain part of the real world that has its corresponding area in the nether right above a lava lake (or if you're above y: 128 in the real world when you die), that won't be too fun...

I like the compass but the spirit world sounds just a bit too weird.
I would love it if you checked out my "about me" page on my profile and looked at my threads :P I'm always happy to see new posters.

I disagree that you should keep it when you die, but I support the compass idea.

But nothing else.

No offense, but is it easy to turn on coords? Maybe the death compass, but that spirit world world just be annoying.

The death compass actually sounds pretty cool because if we die with most of our valuable stuff, we can get it back instead of rage-quitting. The Spiritworld sounds kind of boring, people would get tired off it too fast.

Spiritworld--not supported
Death compass--supported

I like the idea! Yet, it's kind of cheap to have them be kept with you when you die, then again it wouldn't be much of a help if you just died and lost the compass, you'd have to be smart and keep it in a chest, then get the compass out after you die...

Anyway, I really like this idea!

I really like the idea of a death compass. Only thing I disagree with is that you can keep it on you even after you die. I think it would be one of those items you'd store away safely until you needed it.

I agree with everything except for the keep on death mechanic. Keep it in a chest, it's not something you're going to need most of the time.

I agree with the others, compass yes, but you should drop it at death.
