I would also like to add that such work would be refreshing to see (of course not like crazy bone breaking killing death work).  I actually wish I learned a good work ethic, because it is really starting to bite in Highschool..

It would be refreshing to see. If we took kids out to do manual labour, it would show them how terrible their lives will be if they don't try.  Make the slacker do a week of ditch digging and maybe their attitude will change. It seems teens don't understand this basic concept of trying now when things are relatively easy, and not facing a lifetime of physical labour.

As long as it's not abusive.  If a 10 year old kid wants to honestly work, he or she should be able to.  The work can be hard; however, the employer can't use physical means to get them to work harder.  They can, however, fire them, if they're not working hard enough.

I think it is fine if they are working on family farms.

You do realize the world needs ditch diggers right? And you also realize that if you get the opportunity to go to college given to you by your parents and luck in where you were born that you are in no way better than the people doing harder work than you will for less pay right? Am I getting my point across at all with this?

Also Amish people let their kids work while they are still kids. Then when they become adults and actually get paid for the work they used to do for free they're ecstatic. It provides a very good work ethic to allow children to work, not force, allow.

If it's a family farm then I see no harm in it.

Also that was 13 words including contractions.
