I was messing around with my skeleton dungeon xp farm, and during that time i started making some potions, Most notably splash potion of instant healing.
I then proceeded to my spawner and waited for 50 or so Skele's to amass... I threw a potion and it was intensely loud, I Dare you to try it. But not only that it is also an incredibly fast way of getting them dead as it uses no hunger whatsoever.

You should really give it a go, Its quite humorous.

You lie. There is a spawner cap - it stops spawning mobs after a certain amount are in the general area. Nice try at being popular, guy.

I always do this for getting XP, except I let 200 or so gather before I use the potion.

Nice try at understanding how the average grinder works.
The "general area" that the game checks isn't that large, so grinders work simply by moving the mobs out of the area with water, drops or sometimes pistons. Since spawners don't follow by the normal mob cap rules and their rules only check a specific area theoretically you could have unlimited mobs, ignoring java and computer limitations.

Me too.

If there is a cap, mine doesn't work as I let a hundred or so gather in the spawner - if I do too many though it crashes me out!

If you allocate more RAM to minecraft it will rarely crash

You can avoid the cap, I'm pretty sure.

Splash potions have been used for killing mobs in grinders for a while so this is nothing new. :3

As long as you move them out of the 8x8x8ish area of the spawner you can have as many as you want.  Nice try at being popular, guy.

Hehe I've been absent from the mc community for almost 6 months as far as I can remember :3
I've more recently been letting it get to about 100 at a time then using my potion, I didn't even know you could get higher than 110 O.o

I've managed to get up to around 750 mobs at once before. It all depends on how good your computer is.

On the server I play I have four skeleton spawners in a single room, stacked atop each other (Server mods let you pick up and move spawners with silk touch). I usually wait until they amass to around 170-200, then toss a healing potion at them, since that will often get me to level 30 in one go.

Might want to try checking your facts before flaming people.

http://www.minecraft...Monster_Spawner

"If 6 or more monsters of the type are present within a 17 × 9 × 17 area, centered on the spawner block, the spawner "poofs" without creating any monsters and then waits for the next cycle. However, if there are more of the mob outside of the specified range, then the monster spawner will continue spawning mobs indefinitely."

You could also search youtube for "spawner trap" or "grinder" or something like that, and observe any number of the thousands and thousands of videos people have made. Or just log into pretty much any multiplayer server and ask someone to show you theirs.

I love how you guys are all assuming he has a grinder, while I'm not and you think that you are all right.

"skeleton dungeon xp farm" really not enough?

Besides you should use context before jumping to the conclusion that he must be lying because one way you imagine it wouldn't work. You were wrong to just definitely conclude that he is lying from that, and if you use common sense then you realize it's most likely that he isn't even lying.

OP: "I got on the train this morning"
You: "Liar! You can't walk through walls!"
Me&others: "The average person would go through the door"
You: "Why are you all assuming you are right and that he went through the door?"

open mouth, insert foot... look like a fool.

Congrats you have been successful!

Now instead of being defensive you can read up on the game mechanics and learn how most xp farms that are built well work.  Admit your mistake and be a better gamer and person for it.
