Remember my article about animal testing earlier? Well there was major controversy about that. Anyway, this guy with no soul was throwing cats around for "art." What's so fricking artistic about throwing cats in dangerous heights? Even though cats can fall from a high distance, read this article, and be careful about the video.

Nothing wrong with it, it was blown way out of proportion. The video shows people throwing cats up a flight of perfectly padded stairs. I see no problem in this, just kitty stuntdoubling basically.

Unlike the medical research case, which I fully support, this just seems needlessly cruel. How does anyone benefit from this so called 'art'?

Aren't cats supposed to be fit for landing from such falls? Looking at the video, I seriously doubt that's a "very high height".

Also, "According to Belgian newspaper La Libre Belgique, the artist...has been attacked seven times by club-wielding men while jogging in the park."

Seriously? I mean, come on now.

And the whole article seems incredibly biased against this guy.

"We know you're probably too traumatized now to enjoy any cat-related humor."

Are you serious? I wasn't traumatized one bit. What really traumatized me is the kind of people who say they'd do horrible things to this guy.

But if you look closely at one of the cats, it doesn't land on its feet....

And I think, to be honest, deserved to be attacked by those club-wielding men anyway. To be honest.

And, the stairs were improperly padded too. And, if you see the gray cat being thrown, it ended up on the floor instead of the stairs....

That's why there is padding in the first place, in case they land on their sides. Also, stairs are perfectly padded on their own. You are acting like they are landing on spikes. It's just (I think) wood, which is soft enough for a 10 foot toss, PLUS padding.

You can clearly see that nothing wrong is going on. Are the cats dying? No. Are their bones breaking? No.  The cat is falling what, like 10 feet, on a padded surface no less.

Add me to the list, too.

People are so freaking quick to yell "ANIMAL ABUSE". It's ridiculous.

They were poorly padded. The padding was sloppy, like someone just threw it on there. And the stairs are hard. And I'm not saying the cats were ridiculously scarred, it's just that it's still not right to do so, even though the animals are not seriously hospitalized.

If the padding is sloppy, but still protects them from as much harm as they would have gotten if they weren't padded, what's the problem there? We weren't there in person to feel the padding ourselves, so I guess you can argue neither of us can really be right here.

Throwing cats in the air isn't the wisest thing to do, but it's DEFINITELY not animal abuse. To be honest, this whole thing shouldn't have even gotten as much attention as this. The cats didn't seem seriously harmed, plus, I'm pretty sure the artist's intent wasn't to harm the cats.

If this is abuse then patting animals on the head in a friendly way is abuse too!

I agree with the OP (not about being clubbed, though) as there is no reason for him to cause stress to the cats in 'the name of art'. there's nothing artistic about that. Although they do not suffer physical harm, I doubt they enjoy it. I see no reason for this to happen.

IMO, stress and/or injury for artistic purposes should only be performed with consent of the party being injured. Seeing as kitties can't really give that, it's not very fair for them.

How dare you decide what is art and what is not? Stop this sensationalist pity-mongering, the guy who did this is hilarious, and if he did this in order to inspire discussion on art and animal cruelty, he's a ing genius.

Calling a human illegal is the most ridiculous thing. The concept of "illegal immigration" is the cancer of society. No borders, no nations, no deportations.

The cats don't seem to mind either.
