So, Notch (Jeb, Dinnerbone, whatever) said they would add these things to minecraft.

Okay, it's been update after update and these things still aren't added. When will they be added? Also, if Mojang can't do these all at once, I put a poll at the top of my post asking which of these features you want them to add. So far, I really wanted the basics:

• Snow that piles up
  
• Dual Wielding
  
• Custom Paintings
  
• New Fishing Content

So, what do you think? The dual wielding is in the mod Adventure Craft and there's snow that piles up in Modern Winter Mode. Sadly Modern Winter Mode won't be updated anymore. The creator of the mod said you can update it yourselves. It would be awesome if one of you can update it.

Which of these features do you want added?

Just because they said that they thought about adding something or that something was planned, doesn't mean it will be added or has to be. Also, I think you can rename chests now with the Anvil Block, so you can cross that off.

No, they mean so when you open it. Instead of saying "Chest" at the top of the GUI it will say Wolf's Chest, or Mob Loot chest.

Oh. I wonder if that could be added to the Rename Mechanics to show a name in there too. But either way, the only thing we know they are still working on is the API. Also, in my opinion, the only things on that entire list that should be added are the API, the Allocator, and Refactoring the Player Skins. But seeing how this is a list of unrelated ideas and you aren't actually suggesting something unique this should probably be in discussion.

They're already working on the mod API. I've heard Jeb wasn't sure how to add the red dragon and said he's unsure if he wants to implement the allocator.

Not saying Mojang needs to start right away, but they need to start  adding the planned features. Some of these features are mods already. I think there's may be a lecture that wiil be added. Pretty cool.

I've liked the past few updates by the way.

Jeb is what happened to a lot of these, I'm still not happy about that. So many things were on track, then suddenly, Jeb, and all bets are off.

I think a lot of it (Red dragons, pigmen, naming chests) were mentioned ages ago and have already been replaced by other things (Enderdragon, testificates, anvils).

I don't have a source either by I think I remember a dev saying dual wielding would not be in the game, and I don't personally really thing it's necessary for anything. It would just make the control scheme harder in my opinion. Game changing mechanics like that are generally done in alpha or beta, not when the game is fully released.

I haven't determined from the thread if chests can be renamed, but what is wrong with making signs like we used to do?

Also, have you ever planned a trip and you want to do all this neat stuff. How many planned trips included everything you wanted to do? No very many.

Ideas are started and left all the time, you seem to be jumping to the idea that a developer starting to experiment with it in early stages, or even just saying they might do it ages ago means it is a definite planned idea and they have to complete it.

Can't check these 3 myself, but I'm guessing they are mistaking "We might add that" in a casual chat as definite proof.

Dual-wielding The Wiki's proof is that in a chat, over a year ago, jeb said "Maybe" to shields and that even longer ago Notch started working on something similar. No-one claimed that it was a planned feature at mojang.

The ability to name Chests
Already can be done, not exactly like this but well enough.

Red Dragon
This one seems to be said by official mojang people, but only in a very informal way. "I will totally add"

He says he has future plans, he still works for the game and the tweet is comparatively recent, so most probably still being worked on or coming.

Note how only 1 has actually been said to going to be added, the rest are not promised.

I think instead of being labeled as "Planned Features" or whatever it is it should probably be something like "This is stuff we're thinking about in a non-committal way so don't get your hopes up". Yeah, some of these things should, for practical purposes, be added.

Personally, being as hopelessly froo-frooishly girly as I am, I was praying to the Minecraft Gods for Rainbow Crystalline Caverns. I kind of made my own with a fountain in the middle and one sheep for every color of wool possible and the walls had ores of all kind exposed here and there aannnd the grass had a path made of lapis, gold and diamond blocks. It was so pretttyyy!!!

GetSatisfaction was an official community, and the rainbow crystalline caves were confirmed by Mojang directly. They dropped the site like a hot potato later but that doesn't change the past.
