My Minecraft was working fine on Windows 7. Now it comes up with the Bad Video Card Drivers on Windows 8. My driver is Intel ® HD Graphics WDDM (1.1)
Bad video card drivers!
  -----------------------
Minecraft was unable to start because it failed to find an accelerated OpenGL mode.
This can usually be fixed by updating the video card drivers.

You may have/had some trouble finding help with this problem. At this moment in time, a lot of people have not upgraded to Windows 8. Personally, I will stick with Windows 7 Ultimate, because it has a desktop! Sorry I wasn't able to help but I hope you understand you may have some issues fixing this problem.

Update the drivers for your graphics card. 'Tis as simple as that.

Aren't contractions just amazing?

Duh, it's windows 8. Windows 8 is both mobile and desktop. That means that you can run Minecraft:PE from windows 8

Duh, Pocket Edition is VERY limited and I think he means using the PC version. Also, if he doesn't own it, he would have to buy it.

@SpringPrince: Windows 7 was released in 2009 and is still a relatively new OS and works just fine, especially if you are running in 64-bit. Anyone who upgraded must have wanted their PC to look like a smartphone/tablet. Terrible, terrible idea. Never ever get in line for the latest and greatest thing and let someone else kick the tires for a good 6-12 months before diving in. This will give time for bugs and support to be somewhat resolved.

You are running windows update provided drivers that do not include openGL. Install the Win 8 drivers from Intel.com

Windows 8 is a more than capable OS for playing minecraft. Your problem, sir, is not the OS. Simply try updating your video card drivers and updating OpenGL. OpenGL is the graphics renderer for Win8. I am running Minecraft just fine on my Windows 8 laptop just as I would on windows 7.

False. Minecraft:PE Was specifically designed for android/iOS devices. Windows 8 is neither. Windows 8 is not capable of running Minecraft:PE.

I'm running a dual-boot laptop with both windows 7 and 8 on seperate partitions. So far, I have no complaints with windows 8. It runs Minecraft like a charm, as it would any other win7/vista/xp application. In FACT, Windows 8 runs minecraft BETTER than windows 7, because windows 8 outdoes windows 7 in the way of performance by a personal estimate of about 15%. You can find benchmarks on the internet that prove that statement. Windows 8 requires a little getting used to, yeah. But in my opinion, it was well worth the $40 i paid to download the upgrade.

Most of these people have no clue what they are talking about becasue their minecraft is working. Mine isn't though. We seem to have the same problem. From what ive reserched, i have read that my driver is outdated. You cant just "update" it like some others have said. The only reason it even works for windows 8 is that microsoft added something to it. Minecraft doesnt like that. For right now, i'd just wait. They'll eventually come out with a new version of your driver that accepts minecraft or minecraft itself may even update to the old drivers. Microsoft may also update it's software that allows the driver to run windows 8. Sorry Bro, same problem. just wait it out.

I have Windows 8 as well.  It is as simple as updating your drivers.  You could alternatively use the Minecraft for Linux.  That may work.

I didn't know that this was still an issue.  Regardless, find out who developed your video card, look up their website, and look for a button to update your drivers.  The three most common I would say are AMD, Intel, and nVidia.
