Searched, couldn't find it already suggested, so here it is:  A splash potion that will turn mobs into their respective spawn eggs.  This would make moving animals and villagers much easier, allow easier trading of mobs between players, and also could make for interesting traps, all without needing creative mode or an admin to "cheat" them in.

Or you could grow the animals' respective farming material (bread for cows, carrots for pigs etc) and herd them.

Mob spawning eggs are not meant for survival.
Also they could be used as a griefing tool.
What if a griefer finds some of these potions,turns a few ghasts/creepers/blazes into mob eggs and spawns them around an area with lots of players and houses?

This is pretty much always an invalid argument; get an anti explosion plugin and you win.
You may as well propose TNT, f&s, and efficiency tools be removed, as they are far more destructive and they can be 'found' by griefers.

I gotta say, not bad. Along with the "potion" or what ever, you should be required to have an egg, some respective mob drops, and some other rare goodies maybe. Overall, not bad.

To true it is very hard to get a pig to my place with weat when it turns dark and there are mobs about I could lose the pig if I fight the mobs so all and all no bad idea.

It's a good idea. I think that the potions should be found in dungeons, abandoned mineshafts, fortresses and nether fortresses instead of the potion being craftable. I support this idea and hope Jeb adds it!

The problem with spawn eggs is that nodus users will abuse this with auto egg (autoegg is a hack which allows u too choose how many mobs come out of a spawn egg)

Guys u stupid write what's the point of minecraft if it becomes this easy if u really want spawn eggs download runecraft which gives u a ruin that u set up. When a mob steps on this ruin it makes it a mob egg. But I don't support this. I can imagine myself coming to my house stepping on a pressure plate and a dispenser shoots a creeper from on top and me and my mother­ing house blow up

1) I'm not stupid nor are the others supporting this
2)What's runecraft? A mod? if so that comment is illicit.
3)Ok, why would this griefer use a potion and not a load of TNT? TNT is more potent.

I support. This is, I believe, the fourth suggestion I've ever been happy to jump behind. I feel like a more appropriate implementation would be that killing a mob with a specific splash potion would perhaps provide the 'essence' of said mob, which could be crafted with an egg to produce the expected spawn egg. This would add an extra step for potential griefers, hopefully making them less likely to utilize said item for griefing purposes and making them slightly more difficult to obtain.
