This is a great step in the right direction for Mojang. In my opinion, I don't feel that Mojang should be worrying about new content. I'd much rather them fix some bugs and work on optimization (And I guess Modding API, since many people seem to want that).
It's still funny at how many people are mad about mods breaking... lol. I can't believe they're mad that Mojang is releasing such a large number of bug fixes. This'll make mods probably run better and be less glitched, once they get updated. Either play on 1.4.2 with mods or just update to 1.4.3 until your mods get updated.
Wow. Now it is impossible to swim in water. Don't try it if you're in a cave next to a lava pool. I almost learned that the hard way. That's a new bug btw with this new pre-release. And torches don't place properly from certain positions. But keep up the good work Mojang. You've got a lot of bugs, but keep your head in the game, and you all will do fine.
Still have lighting errors... still have chunk loading errors, still have monsters and villagers falling into the ground.....
So what did they fix? obviously nothing that matters
Lighting errors were scrapped for possibly 1.5, they were worked on if you followed Dinnerbone. Then it became a major problem so it was scrapped. Many things are being focused on, but there's many that take longer to fix. The whole falling into the ground should have been fixed. Obviously something isn't exactly proper.
Also the rendering engine is being rewritten, so there's going to be fixes for lighting no doubt. Not to mention it shouldn't be so intensively laggy.
For the life of me I can't figure it ... this is supposed to be a bug fix release (1.4.3) ... and somehow ... they've created some insane new bugs? I'm not mad, bro, just curious ... without further adieu, introducing, in Single-Player:
Mexican-jumping-torches! Take side bets on where they will land!
EverOpen Chests! Save time and energy! I mean, you know eventually you're just gonna go and open the dang thing again!
Last but not least ...
Permanent Diver's Weight Belts! Say goodbye to decompression sickness, never again will you ascend too quickly!
/sarcasm
For anyone that would get a chapped **** and/or a harshed mellow over me saying these things, I have but one word: seriously?
Anyway, I know, they'll fix this stuff ... and most of it is nothing although even the silly things always make me wonder what else is broken, lurking there under the surface. I will say, concerning these new ones, that the swim bug alone is a deal-breaker for me until they fix it. It almost got me killed in a cave.
So as not to be a total naysayer, for what it's worth I do really dig the new-ish kamikaze mob AI (not sure when that was released in snapshots), I was caving & ravine-exploring in a 1.4.2 Hard mode survival game, wearing leather armor. Walked into a big opening with a big stream of water flowing down to me at an angle from ahead and above ... I lit up the area near myself, and could now see a huge parade of mobs just surfing the waves down to me, you know how they do, eager for some socialization (especially the zombies - they just want hugs, guys ... well, that and brains) ... okay, sure, that was interesting, but no big deal.
Then not one but several dive-bombing creepers joined in the festivities ... wow! Fourth of July in November!
Honestly there for about five minutes it was far more like one of Vech's maps than anything I've ever seen in the vanilla game. Brutal! :-) So yeah, that's cool, I'm all for that, the game's way too easy as it is, IMHO.
Let's just hope that the 1.4.3 launch next week doesn't include fascinating new features like disappearing pants, silverfish wood blocks in trees, or ever-locked doors ...
What? Everyone was saying Mojang is adding too many features and not enough bug fixes.. And now everyone is complaining that this update doesn't have any new features and only bugfixes.. ಠ_ಠ

I'll still go bug-hunting on creative though.
I'm so happy that the missing Music Disk is now in the game officially.
Yeah, even MCP had to update. As a note, the MCP creator won't be on Minecraft Forums anymore (See their twitter.)

Except they didn't fix it, the bug is still present and even worse than before in some instances.
