Actually, I'm considering on his empty eyes. The left (our left) eye has a bit of white specks on it...but I don't know. His neck looks real though.

Well, the photo is in grey scale. And, I think his skin was supposed to have turned white. Depends, I suck at determining what chemicals can do to human skin.

Probably a mannequin. I don't think it makes sense how his eyes and mouth are hollow, and he has a solid-looking face.

Well, it depends. Like I said to Sarge, I'm not good with telling what a chemical would do.
He was supposed to have been attacked by a creature which secrets a fluid corrosive enough to burn though a solid-steel door.

By the looks of it, it seems like everything except his skin and hair was completely dissolved. Why the skin retains its form is rather a mystery.

If you were saying a 'fluid corrosive enough to burn through a solid-steel door', I wouldn't think his skin would've look like that. It's going to be a LOT worse.

Perhaps the chemical hardened it. Of course, according to the story, this guy was missing for two hours after interacting with the creature. And it's supposed to like playing with it's food, so it obviously didn't want to kill him right away.

It's put out of context, but the way I see it, he probably had protective cream or something on his skin, but the fluid went through his eyes and mouth, and eventually bone. The protective cream probably reacted with the fluid and turn solid due to some chemical reaction.

That actually seems rather accurate. The person in my avatar was a scientist who was supposed to be prepared for interaction with the creature. And they knew what it could do.
