Resource packs
Some shaders effects need "normal map" and "specular map" in resource pack.
Normal map name is <name of base texture without .png> + "_n.png".
Specular map name is <name of base texture without .png> + "_s.png".

Graphics drivers links
If you encounter problem running this mod, try update your graphics driver.
Sometimes, latest version may not work well, you may have to install prior version that is known to work.
Spoiler:

Troubleshooting
  • Texture resolution

If the game cannot run after install this mod, and you are using high resolution texture, try again with 16x16 or 32x32 texture. If it works, you can try higher resolution like 64x64 or 128x128.
256x256 does not work well with ShadersMod on most graphics cards today.

  • Java heap size

This can be set in Minecraft Launcher - Edit Profile - JVM Arguments
-Xmx1024M or -Xmx1G is usually enough.  2048M is plenty.
    Don't set it too high.
ShadersMod and OpenGL requires a lot of memory outside java heap.
Make sure you have enough memory remaining outside java heap.

  • Console output

In Minecraft Launcher - Edit Profile -
check "Launcher Visibility" and set it to "Keep the launcher open". Save Profile.
After this is set and you launch the game, console output is in Minecraft Launcher window, Development Console tab.
Reading it may provide some clue about cause of the problem.
You can copy the text and paste it to http://pastebin.com/ (or similar
website), submit it and get its link.  Post your link in the forum when you ask for help.

  • Crash Report

If the game crashes. There is also Crash Report page in launcher window that provides useful information.

  • Version and system info

If you ask for help, please provide Minecraft version number, Forge version number, ShadersMod version number, and other mods name and version/edition (if installed).
If non-default launcher is used, you should write its name and version number too.
Also the operating system name and version, graphics adapter name and driver version.
Please be specific. Don't say latest version of everything.

History
daxnitro created the original GLSL SHADERS mod which create possibility for better-looking Minecraft.
However, in September to October 2012, daxnitro did not update his mod for new Minecraft version 1.3.2-1.4.2.  The last version was 2.1.6 for Minecraft 1.3.1.
Many users requested an update for new Mincraft version.
daxnitro said in his post that he allow modification and distribution of his mod.
Spoiler:
So I started updating new version of mod. id_miner also made his updated version of GLSL Shaders mod as well.  He post it in his GLSL Shaders OF thread.  I am combining his code in my version of shaders mod.  He plans to leave development of shaders mod after I include all his added features in my version.
If you like the mod and want to donate to daxnitro, see the link in his thread.

Nice, glad to see people are taking up on the mod to keep it updated.

It still al works fine for me except with one thing: Does anyone possibly know why I can't use Modloader and the shaders at the same time? I've posted on the original forum to no answer as of yet... Anyway, I still get the water shaders, and the God's rays, but the actual shadows and lighting on the textures do not work anymore when I activate Modloader. Is there a way to solve this, or a workaround?

Just wanted to say..  Nice shader Mod. The only thing I wish was that the water was more realistic instead of that cartoonist look. Other then that, great job.

I just copied the OptiFine and ran the install and it worked fine without needing any launchers.

Perhaps I am doing something wrong here? I've tried every thing I possibly could to install this mod with absolutely no results. I'm not blaming the creator, I'm blaming my own incapability.

I followed the directions to a T, and when I started minecraft (I use the Magic Launcher) I load in fine, everything seems okay, but I see no results. Did I do something wrong? Am I supposed to install the files to the jar itself? That can't be right as the shaders are already in the jar file.

I run the following:
Magic Launcher
Optifine Ultra
Forge
Pam's mods
Steve's carts 2
Rei's Mini map

I believe that is everything. What am I doing wrong? I checked the log multiple times, there are no errors and everything seems to be installed fine. Is there another file I need? Let me know if you can please, thank you. IN the meantime I'll take a look through the thread again to see if there is anything that I missed. Once again, thank you for your time and I appreciate all help that you can give me.

Maybe its just me thats having to high expectations, but heres a picture..

Sorry for the big picture! What have i done wrong ?

In the game settings i have disabled anti-aliasing, anisotropic filering and enabled custom colors.. I even turned the brightness all the way down

1. The grass looks fine to me.
2. SEUS isn't the most perfect modification of GLSL. But it has its bugs.
3. The lighting engine in Minecraft does the same thing. SEUS doesn't edit how light interacts with objects like paintings and chests.
4. You have the water shader turned off. Turning it on will make it look alot better.
5. It looked green because it was also raining which changes how things look.
6. The color was designed to look like that.

You have done nothing wrong, It's just natural.
Everything in life is fun n' games until those arrows come flyin' in at your knees.

@ NorstrumDomus
If you install GLSL mod before other mods, GLSL mod's files may be overwritten or overridden by other mod's files.
Try install all mods in minecraft.jar before running nitrous installer for GLSL mod.
You have many mods.  It is possible that some of them are incompatible with GLSL mod.

@ Da9L
1. Some of the grass looks just weird when so bright
- The grass are waving and the shadow has low resolution.  Some grass is nearly parallel with sun light, so it casts no shadow and some is at different angle, it has shadow.  You will see shadow blinks on and off.
2. Look at the veins on the building. Why are some so bright and others not?
- I don't know.
3. Lighting seems awkward
- Yes.  It is like that on other computers as well.
4. Weird water
- The dark patch in water is probably SEUSv10rc5 bug.
5. At night everything is green
- Everything is gray at night in my PC when it is not raining.  SEUSv10rc5 is like this.
6. When its dark, colors turn to something that looks like 256 colors.
- I think it depends on light map and texture or the formula in shaders.
In summary, I think you installed it correctly.  But SEUSv10rc5 with Ovo's Rustic Pack is a test release to demonstrate normal mapping and reflection feature.  I hope we will get more refined shaders and texture packs from Sonic Ether and other artists in the future.

I realised that i had one of the mcpatcher mods enabled and that was causing a problem >,<  I did make my texture pack "Compatible"(Replaced lightmaps etc.), Added the texturepack compatibility addon(contains specularmaps and all that stuff.)changed my water texture to solid magenta(Water shader now works Posted Image) but i don't see the shadows, Sunflare thingy doesn't work, and everything is super bright.
EDIT: I'm going to try out the texture pack you gave the link to and see what hapens.
EDIT2:Same thing as above
