[WIP][Launcher] ModLauncher - Making mods easy!

Modlauncher is finally about ready to be released! We are in Final Bug Testing / Custom content creation phase now!

--Please note that all features listed below ARE in the launcher, but release dates, update notes are heavily outdated.!

ModLauncher is a new launcher that we are developing. We plan to release it September. We will add more info, screens and clean this post soon and make it look nice, but here are some of the features we are adding.

Mods Supported By ModLauncher:
  • Almost any mod that can be Loaded with forge, modloader or modloaderMP

  • ModLauncher Supports the GuiAPi, PlayerAPI, and RenderPlayerAPI
  • Almost EVERY MOD direct injected or loaded
Launcher Features

Friends System - Allows you to add friends, adds a friends list with the ability to IM, and invite them into your game (SMP invite only)

Server Lists - The launcher will include Server Lists, 1 for Bukkit / Vanilla servers, and 1 for Modded Servers. The launcher features the ability to rate/ Favorite / review servers and much more! The server list also features a join button that on click will launch the game and directly connect you to that server. the server list / launcher will minimize into the tray until you exit game or click on it.

Mod System - When adding a Modded server to the server list you select what version of minecraft, forge / modloader and what mods your server runs. When a client clicks join on your server in the server list. The launcher will download all of the mods it needs and run the proper version of minecraft / modloader. Taking the hassle out of telling your users to install "insert mods here" to connect.

Single player mod config - If you wish to play with mods in your single player you can click the configuration tab and simple check which mods you wish to use and what version of minecraft you wish to play and it will load the respective mods up and launch your game.

Optimization - We have optimized the way mods are stored and loaded so instead of downloading the same mod everytime you connect to a server that uses it it only needs to download once, and it will not load that mod unless told to. You can also choose where the launcher installs minecraft / mods to save space.

Customize your Play! - Whether your a server owner configuring your server settings on our website or a user wanting to play single player you can choose from many settings!

  • Change your skin
Unlike normally where you have to search for what you want, download it, install in and then run minecraft. With MyMcLauncher simply click a onscreen menu option and use a GUI to select what you want and click GO!

Legal - Because this launcher downloads and installs mods, the launcher connects to a database that looks where to download them from. The links we use to download the mods are either Official Links by the mod developer, or links authorized by the developer.

The launcher has many more features. We plan to clean up this post, add Screens and more later this week.

However in the mean time any feedback, requests, for the launcher just reply. Also you can reply to show your support so we can get a feel of how many people would use this system.

How about adding the ability to make modpacks by combining the mods you select along with the modloader/forge and MC version into a .rar so you can send them to people.

if we did something like that i dont think we would make it actually make a so called "Modpack" but more of for singleplayer when you can check what mods you want to run maby a save configuration and the ability to load multiple presets / configs that u save?

New feature addition: When you configure a server with us you must have a server running on the ip address your registering we will be using this to verify its a legit server. We will also require you to prove that you own the server by changing the MOTD it server.properites once this is done you can finaly configure your server. Not only can you configure mods but we will also support configs and block id changes as well. We will also have the feature to click 1 button and download a packed up server files with all the mods preconfigured and ready to go as well a s if u have minecraft hosting and u enter your ftp details our server will install it for you!

If your a mod developer you can now add your mods details so it will be supported / featured in the launcher on release

ModLauncher supports many API's that require direct injection: GuiAPI, PlayerAPI, RenderPlayerAPI.
This will allow us to support other mods like ID Resolver, Smart moving, etc.

ModLauncher will not support many mods that require direct injection and cant be loaded with a mod loader, Optifine is 1 exception to this. Optifine will be loaded no matter what for its performance and hd reasons

our plan is to support verry few mods for 1.2.5 and 1.3.2 initialy that can be changed by the mod authers adding their mods to our DB themselves. We plan to support over 100 14.2. mods and every version sence then. We will not as of now support non recomended builds or pre-releases. Tekkit recently published a article on their website stated that Forgebukkit is likly dead meaning there likly wont be a update for Bukkit based modded servers for atleast a few months if ever! So what that being said we are trying to decide if ModLauncher will have built in tekkit support for legacy 1.2.5 servers if you have any feedback for either arguement let us know

are there any pics on what the launcher may look like?

EDIT: if it doesn't support all mods you're going to run into issues what magic launcher has

We can't Support ALL mods, however unlike magic launcher where you have to download the zip then add it with magic our Plaform does all that for you with 2 simple clicks and a easy to use GUI you can choose what mods to DL / run when it comes to SSP play

As to pics hopefully within the next week. We plan to hopefully have previews / working demo close to the end of this month with a release soon after

EVERY MOD that can be loaded with a modloader
Will be supported with ModLauncher. What that means is our Platform / Launcher / Database is preconfigured with that mods settings and with 1 click you can DL or load that mod into the game. As well as you have complete control of what version of the mod to DL / Run as well as MC version.. Our platform handels the installing of both the mod and modloader and ensures compatibility.
On launch day we estimate to have about 300+ mods supported!

There are some cases where a mod cant be loaded with a modloader and we will support it. heres a few of the mods that require direct injection into .jars that we support

amung others, in order for us to add / support a mod like this that requires direct injection we need to heavily test its compatibility

Hey just a update. This project is very much alive and being worked on. As of tonight we will being adding mods to our Database that the launcher will support
