Audiotori is a cascading sound pack manager. It allows you to use multiple sound packs at once to replace the default Minecraft sounds, or replace sounds added by other mods.

For instance, you can have a music sound pack loaded at the same time as a Vintage Minecraft Alpha sound pack.

FAQ
Q: Do I need Forge?
A: No, Audiotori only requires ModLoader.

Q: I'm using Forge. Will this mod work?
A: Yes, Forge already includes a special version of Mod Loader.

Q: What base Minecraft classes does this mod modify?
A: None.

Q: Are sound packs made for the Sound Packs Mod compatible with Audiotori?
A: As long as the sound pack was designed for Minecraft 1.4, yes.
Older sound effects packs will not work because Minecraft has changed the locations and the composition of many sounds between 1.3.2 and 1.4.2, which will break all sound packs regardless of the mod it was made for.
Additionally, if a sound pack is exclusively a music pack (no sound effects), it will work.

Q: If I rename the newsound/ folder to sound3/ in older sound packs, will it work?
A: Most likely no. For instance, in the folder sound3/step/, you will find many files numbered 5 and 6. These files were absent in 1.3.2. Therefore, if you install an older sound pack, custom sounds will play alongside unaletered original sounds. These are not the only differences. You either have to look through every single sound file and fix them, or let the sound pack author adapt it himself/herself to 1.4.2.

Go ahead.

By the way, there are many sound packs already made because the concept of sound packs is not new. In fact I've coded this mod after reading that the mod I linked you to has been discontinued.

Except that most existing sound packs were made for 1.3.2, which had the sounds located somewhere else (sound3 instead of newsound, also mob sounds were reorganized, and dig sounds are now separate from footsteps).

Download the example sound packs from the website, it is very easy to figure out how to create a new sound pack (even info.cfg is optional).

Very nice! I'm now making mini-packs for myself from the Alpha pack to replace only some of the sounds, and it's painless.

This is a very cool mod! I dont know if you've heard of this but ever heard of the old mod SoundModEnabler? (something like that) will those soundpacks be compatible with this? and, how would i make a soundpack that replaces 13 with where_are_we_now?

-thanks!

I made Audiotori with the objective of not modifying any base class if possible unlike Sound Mod Enabler seems to do (and I think Sound Packs also did), but also adding my own spice feature to it (which would be the ability to load multiple sound packs instead of only one).

Sound packs are pretty much compatible if you make sure to update the resource structure to 1.4.2 (which would be replacing newsound with sound3) since most packs were made for 1.3.2. info.cfg is optional.

You bring up a good point here, in Audiotori you can have base .mus files replaced by .ogg files as long as they have the same file name without the extension, but it does not work the other way around, that is you can't replace an .ogg file with a .mus file.
Maybe I'll add support for such things in a future update.

Thank you Ha3 ! =)

I'm in a rush these days, but I will probably launch a new Rhapsodia version for the 1.4.2 with an auditori sound pack.

Take care,
If you like my sounds, maybe you'll like my music. Just check my soundcloud (soundcloud/lzn02)
