You can't get the old launcher. At least, I don't think it'll work.

You can, I have some of the older ones, not sure if it's legal to share them though.

Could you please send it to my email, pm or skype? I'd love to have it, I really miss it I hate the new one.

it is illegal to redistribute any patent property of Mojang... but I wouldn't think this is a big deal. if all you want is the old launcher then go for it.

Cubic Chunks. That is all.

Ok, after all the posts I have to ask, I can't resist anymore: why would you need an old launcher?
"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."

I have it if you want it. It's from: 08 February 2012 (when I bought the game :D). Want it?

It shouldn't still work though, right? I thought Notch disabled it.

Not sure why you would want the old launcher, but which one do you want? The one from Alpha, or the one from mid-Beta?

Exactly how would old versions of minecraft not work? I was able to play some Alpha by downgrading.

No, read it again. The old 'Clients'.

It is illegal to distribute .jar files.
It is not illegal to distribute Old-looking Minecraft launcher as it may be considered as a Texture Pack.

No it wouldn't be considered as a texture pack, but yes, as long as the client uses Mojang's login server, you can 'make' your own client and have it look like the old version.

Hmm... That's a good Idea, but I still wish you could use the old ones :\

Just for clafification, the REASON why the old ones don't work is because of the code they use to execute the minecraft.jar.

Here's the code they used  for the old launcher.

minecraft.exe <username> <password> <server:port>

But here's the setup for the newer launcher

minecraft.exe <server:port>
--username=<username>
--password=<password>

I really don't see that it should make much of a difference, but hey, not my game or company. Otherwise I'd allow people to use the old launchers :P
