How do I find abandoned mineshafts, and strongholds? I've checked out many caves, but I can't seem to find any mineshafts, or strongholds.

Just keep digging, just keep digging, just keep digging, digging, digging, what do we do, we dig, dig, dig :)

Though thinking about it, there may be cases where there are no AM or strongholds on a map, but I'm not 100% sure.

Indeed, though like I said, I might be wrong.

I've been mining for days with no mineshafts or strongholds, I want melon seeds. I found an underground ravine, 2/3 the way down I found some mineshafts, found 4 chests filled with bread and iron... no seeds :(
As`far as I know I hav'nt come across a stronghold yet.
anyone else only finding yellow flowers, red flowers are not on my map I'm 99% sure.

Do what I do, dig a 1x2 hole to bedrock and stand in the middle, dig 3 blocks down on one side then 3 on the other. This saves time and prevents you from falling in lava. Do this in random spots on your map.

OP: is this an old world that you have already explored?

I've been making a ToP map and have found a village, a ravine, and Abandoned Mineshaft. I have yet to find a Stronghold.

They're still here. Red and yellow.

Also, use TNT!

Use bonemeal on grass . Should spawn both types of flowers .

You can use creative mode to make it quicker, create a creative mode map with the same seed you use in survival, dig a 1 block hole down to bedrock, fill it with tnt. Blow the tnt and check inside the crater, if you dont see naythign, repeat this all over the map. It still takes a while but its a lot quicker than just digging around

xray glitch is MUUUCH faster than either of those 2. i used it in creative on a random map to make sure i had mineshafts before i started a new world

I have found 3 mineshafts so far, but no stronghold. You would think how big it is that it would be easier to find.

If you have explored all your chunks then you arent going to get new terrain features (structures) it doesnt matter if you explore the surface or underground a chunk is from bedrock to sky and 16x16 if you explored that chunk on surface its explored underneath too.
