Buried Treasures

Source is in the download! You can make a modified version of this as long as I get some credit.

NCrawler updated to 1.5_01 for me! Thank you, NCrawler!

Have you ever wandered around a huge desert, longing to find something, but all you can find is cacti and more sand? Well now you can find buried treasures! This is a simple mod that adds treasures to your game that you can only find in sand.

Look who found treasure!

These treasures have some nice loot.

Someone got lucky!

Who could have possibly buried this here?

No, you don't need new chunks, and no, you don't need modloader, it only replaces one class file (Sand).

So are the drops the same as in dungeon chests? Because that's what it looks like from the screenshots.

Well, I modified some of them for the buried treasure (Gunpowder is TNT, string is stick, saddle is gold ingot, and golden apple is diamond)

However, the update I am about to do (v1.2) adds a couple new appearances: Coal and torches. I might also take away the bread from chests (It appears way too often and spams up your inventory)

Download the latest download! It includes rarity choices:

Rare Version (1 of 30 chance)
Regular Version (1 of 20 chance)
Common Version (1 of 10 chance)

It also includes the MCP source for each of them. Enjoy!

Mind if I make a modified version of this?
I'll lower chances for a chest even more,
change the buriedLootItem() function to give 1-10 of any block or a random item (chosen from the items available in the unmodded game, excluding records[these are to be found in dungeons]).
So you can get very unlucky and get nothing or get a chest with 270 diamond blocks (wich theoretically has a chance of happening, practically impossible though, the RNG from java isn't THAT bad)
This are the most extreme cases though.

Spoiler:

Edit: the spoiler is wrong >_> I misinterpreted some code.
