wonderful wonderful! This looks great and what a coincidence I just finished the game! Hey I have a couple ideas if you have the time/motivation

Wild West Texture pack
Wild west gun mod? revolver, winchester, double barrel
npc mod: you can add bandits/ random people/ marshals.

also just wanted to say great idea and cant wait for it to come out!

NOTE: PIG RIDING WILL BE AWESOME IN THE NEXT UPDATE YOU CAN RIDE PIGS AT WILL WITH THE CARROT STICK!

P.S. WHEN THIS COMES OUT I'll MAKE A LET'S PLAY ON IT! Please add me as a friend on the forums here and PM me when the full release comes out. Thanks!

Texture Pack: Yes, we're already working on it.
Mods: I didn't really want people to have to install mods, but seeing as the ModAPI is coming in the near future, expect a western gun mod to be a part of RDRedstone.

Also adding a railroad that goes around the second part of the map.

And does anyone have suggestions for minigames? I know we all hated the horseshoes game in Red Dead Redemption, but I was thinking of doing that here.

Sounds good. Maybe a red stone chance game like gambling?

Map Info (So far):

Location:
Red Dead Redstone takes place in the fictional state of Denton, which is largely based on Colorado and Wyoming. The state of Denton is divided into 3 distinct regions, each of which are filled with at least 18 unique towns, settlements, villages and other various locations. Almost all structures/buildings in these locations are enterable. Denton's locations are:

Neai Ridge:
This is the mountain region of the game, where snowy forests and hills are everywhere, not to mention the war being wadged between the new settlers and the natives who call Neai home. It's locations are:
Redstone Mining Co.
Tanner's Hide
Gwi'yaa' Peak
Pineheart Tribe
Icebone Tribe
Cold Lake
Mineral

West Denton:
This is the more civilized portion of Denton, where redstone mined from the Neai Ridge is being used to power nearly everything, and it's citizens are obsessed with it. It's locations are:
Kingston
Whitelight
Easton Supply Co.
Harper Ranch
Hawthorne Farm
Songbird Tribe
Fort Calhoun

Maseah Plains:
This is the rural plains region of the game, where Natives still roam like they have for thousands of years before the settlers came to Denton. The settler's influence can still be seen here, however. It's locations are:
Wolfhill Tribe
Harlow
Goldpan
Bassfin Tribe

EDIT (1/3/2013): All strike through locations have been cut from the game, but some other ones have been added.

Size:
The map is expected to be about 20,726 blocks wide and 15,360 blocks long, or 1296 x 960 chunks.

Accessibility and Travel:
1 1/2 of the 3 regions (Maseah Plains and half of the Neai Ridge) will be accessible from the start of the game. The other 1 1/2 regions (West Denton and the other half of the Neai Ridge) will be unlocked by the player as the story progresses. The map's scale may be a bit much for some, and travel may get annoying, which is why the game is fully equipped with transportation to help the player navigate the open-world map. Boats can be bought or made to travel through the rivers and lakes of Denton. There is also a train that runs through East Denton and part of the Neai Ridge. Maps can be found in chests throughout the game, and are very helpful when exploring. When traveling on trails, signs mark the way at every intersection. And of course, you can ride your fast, trusty pig wherever you like inside Denton.

And last but not least, an unmarked map of my progress so far from a Chunk View on MCEdit:

Note: All the ugly Red and Yellow dots on parts of the map won't be there in the final product, also, this whole map is just the progress I'm at now, not the final thing.

Actually, I already had planned a lot of that stuff. I have a full shop system and working on a economy thing. Also the pig riding will defiantly be in it, and I will add Tailors for clothing like in Red Dead.

Pretty much done with the map. I'm starting on the missions, so I'm expecting to release the game in January or February.

They're updating redstone in February, so RDRedstone may or may not get delayed. Expect a better game though, the new redstone features will be really useful.

Hi, I've been working on a sort of crossover adventure map that combines elements of Minecraft and Red Dead Redemption. I call it Red Dead Redstone. It is an Open-World Western-Themed Adventure Map, and I think it's one of a kind for a MC adventure map. I'm really the only one working on this project, other than my friend Alex Bryant (AKA Trinus) who's in charge of making images/editing the game's texture pack.

Anyways, I've been working on this for about 5 months now and I'd like to know what you guys think. I only have a few screenshots to show, but I'd like to hear any ideas/criticism/questions of it. Here's just a few of the things I have/will have when it's released (so don't suggest these):

-Pig Riding
-Pig Races
-Story Missions
-Side Missions
-Hunting
-Trading
-Collectibles
-Treasure Hunting
-You can buy/own a room/house inside towns

And with that said, I'll leave you with the screenshots, thanks for reading!
Spoiler:

I want to help with redstone

PM me to start

Sorry, this is a project between me and one of my friends who's making the texture pack. Plus, the game is almost finished.

Here's a map I made of Denton, not the best looking thing ever, but you'll probably need it when playing the game if I can't get the in-game map working.

hey dj. I have been following this map creation for a long LONG time! =D heck I was first to post on the thread I actually found it randomly under last updated, I now think it was destiny! Especially since I found it right after I beat red dead redemption! XD

I can't wait for it to come out I am so excited! I am thrilled to do a let's play of this map on opening day. I would be honored to have the privilegde of posting the first red dead redstone video and when all the popular minecraft youtubers start playing it I'll be like "Got there first!" Like how the first person who made a slender video felt. =)

I can already tell this is going to be a wonderful map to play, I can predict by the end of 2013 it's in the Greatest Maps thread.

oh also man can you do me a favor. I'm following this topic but sometimes things dont show up! D: I was wondering if you could send me a link to the new thread when released via PM so I don't miss the opening day. =)

Posted Image Thanks for keeping up with the game; glad to see that a Youtuber wants to play my game. Sorry for the wait, but it's a two person project and our first adventure map, not to mention the fact that it's open-world. And how'd you know my first two initials are DJ?

Sure! In fact, seeing as you're so interested in the game, I'll let you beta test it before it comes out! Once that point comes, I'll send you a link and let you play/test the game before the full release. Feel free to record it.

Sure thing, and like I said, I'll let you test the beta if you want.

Note to anyone else reading: If you'd like to beta test, please message/PM me. I need about 4-5 more people.
