So, i decied to make a Tekkit server for me and my friends. So downloaded it from the site and lauched the .bat file, it came up with and error:

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.'

After looking through lots of youtube vids, none held my answer!

I went under my program files and my Java wasn't there! It was under Program Files (x86) and the launch.bat couldn't find it.

after messing around it with the launcher when i copied my bukkit laucher coding from my normal server to the tekkit folder, launcher.bat, edited it, typed:

@ECHO OFF
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "Tekkit.jar"
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86" java -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "Tekkit.jar"
PAUSE

If you are using Java 6 then change it to:

@ECHO OFF
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="64" "%ProgramFiles(x86)%\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "Tekkit.jar"
IF /I "%PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE:~-2%"=="86"  java -Xincgc -Xmx1024M -jar "Tekkit.jar"
PAUSE

Most youtube vids never menitioned this, so here is my help!

Thats fantastic and all but how do you get tekkit 1.3.2 CLIENT? It's not in the launcher! >:\

P.S. This error only happens when you run a tekkit server on a x64 operating system, It's looking for java in Program files when its in Program files(x86).

And AllMyr, This isnt the place for you then.

Tekkit still isn't 1.3.2 updated
I would suggest looking into this, they are hoping to get a 1.3.2 version out soon, and as the mod devs are working with slowpoke  on the pack it will be updated as often as needed, and it has alot more mods than tekkit does http://www.minecraft...b-the-mod-pack/

Sorry, I am not very good at programing (or understanding programing)... but when you say that you messed around with it and the launcher when you copiedyour bukkit coding from your normal server, are you saying you had VANILLA server files?

P.S. This is my first server and it is frustrating me. Posted Image

Heres how much of a noob I am: Thinking it would work, I copied and pasted Java from program files (x86) to program files. Then I deleted it from the (x86) one. It said a fatal exception had occured and that it didn't have nough heap space? so I reversed what I did and now it's the same old "Not operable" message. :( Help!

For reference to anyone in the future:
  • Right click 'My Computer' then 'Properties'
  • In the top left 'Advanced system settings'
  • 'Environment Variables'
  • In user variables add 'New'
  • Then input the following

        Variable name:    PATH    (must be capitals)
        Variable value:    C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin    (path to your java bin, normally this or 'Program files (x86)')

  • Then add new again but

        Variable name:    CLASSPATH     (must be capitals)
        Variable value:    C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin

  • Enjoy tekkit server now that it can link to java.
Hope this helps everyone :)
