Here is emerald islands, a map I made from a very aged Indev version of minecraft. It's huge and has been repopulated to have a plains-esque style. Afterwards I changed the entire map to a jungle biome to give the island a very bright emerald green to emulate alpha. Now I give the map to you to explore!
Anyways, enough babbling! Screenshots!

And lastly, here is a very nice HD Rendering produced in Chunky, an external rendering program:
Enjoy! Inside the starter house is a chest containing some starter goods and some unfindable items that you may want.
Note: When you enter the world, you will fall at first, don't worry, just respawn, and you will be by the starter home.
Note II: This map is HUGE. I mean literally, gigantic. This can absolutely sustain any let's play for quite some time. Play multiplayer on it for even more fun.
Note III: There isn't much air slack at the ends of the islands. I don't recommend straying too far off the edges. Don't worry, this won't be visible if you stay in the islandic area.
Challanges:
Sandman Walkin': Traverse the floating sand from one island to a second, without fall.
Think Wood: Forest the the islands!
Out Farming: Create a farm.
SKYWARD!: Create a home in the sky.
How beautiful: Create a window inside of an island, looking out into the void.
GRAAAAAGH: Fall down a 1-wide pit.
It.. floats!: Create your own island!
Islandception: Make a normal island in a man-made lake in a floating island!
Lumberjack: Chop down 64 logs.
The Edge: Take a visit to the edge of the islands.
At It's Own Game: Shoot a skeleton off the islands.
Diamond!: Mine some diamond!

I LOVE This map It is unbelievable you must have sacrificed months into creating this! If I were to rate this Custom Map I would give it a 10/10 No doubt from how realistic it is! Instead of floating blocks that you jump to get to another one this one actually has the shape of a island! I am very amazed and I don't think any map could possibly top this!

Wow... thanks!

1) The biome should be forest because there are an unreasonable ammount of ocelots that spawn. It's just not something that you should see in an indev map. If anything, I think the hills biome makes for a color closer to indev grass.
2) Maybe considering a small mushroom island where you replace the grass with mycelium, and the trees with a giant mushroom, and a couple mooshrooms.
3) A way to get into the Nether and End. Maybe a dungeon with some obsidian. And once you enter the Nether, there could be a nether fortress or dungeon that contains 12 portal blocks in a chest.
4) Maybe eventually, make the Nether and End look like the overworld, but obviously replacing stuff like grass/dirt/stone/gravel with netherrack or netherbrick. I know that would take an unreasonable ammount of time though

How is this map meaningless? It's ment for survival. Just because it's not an adventure dosen't me it is immediately bad.
Wow... thanks!
It's still beautiful and amazing, however.
