Routing pipes are kind of like diamond pipes, in that they route items to specific outputs. But unlike diamond pipes, routing pipes only use the input pipe to determine which way to send the item:
You can click the colors on the right-hand column to change the outputs. Multiple inputs are allowed to point to the same output, and an input can point back on itself (bouncing). If the output is not valid (no pipe), the item will distribute randomly like a normal pipe.
The default configuration (shown above) is to send the pipe directly through to the matching output on the other side. Useful for tight layouts!
Looks neat and useful! My only suggestion would be to maybe change the color of the pipe? I know you're trying to make it bronze-colored, but in visual appearance it looks A LOT like the apiarist pipe from Forestry. Maybe make yours a bit more darker or maybe just go with a copper color? Might not be a huge deal, but I could actually see people potentially using this pipe in conjunction with the apiarist pipe so having them both in the same setup could probably get super-confusing as to which is which.
Hm! Yes, the color is difficult to distinguish. I will put in a darker bronze shade and make sure to match them side by side for the next release. Thanks!
Yes! Great mod! Love the routing pipe and glad to see the Insertion Pipe return. Seeing the current status of Additional Pipes(Teleport Pipes), you should do the similar thing with Power Switch and Teleport Pipes! (I know these were requested above me, just supporting the requests.)
Routing Pipes is Episode 179 in my Mod Review Collection
Thanks so much taral for this awesome addition to Buildcraft. Much needed IMHO!

Good news! 3.2.0pre9 will have the necessary changes to support the routing pipe directly. Until it releases, I will continue to distribute my augmented pre8 version.
So I just downloaded the buildcraft version from the original post and am suddenly getting an error saying that buildcraft transport is missing. Why is that?

I haven't seen this. Please post the ForgeModLoader-client log file and I'll take a look.
This is a 1.4.7 mod.
Thanks piedudeaus for a mod spotlight!

Credits: Many thanks to the Additional Pipes mod for the advanced insertion pipe recipe/icon. Here's hoping your update to 1.3.2 goes well!
I'm going to hold off on any chunkloaders until there's more consensus on how to balance them to avoid overloading servers.
The branch is required for the routing pipe -- the insertion pipe will work without it if you really want to run with the stock BuildCraft.

Woot, I have a mod spotlight!
Make sure to back up your world before updating!
If I can get a hold of DaStormbringer, I'm happy to. Haven't succeeded yet.
Have you tried the new EnderStorage mod? It serves a similar purpose.
