there is a block breaking oddity in minecraft that is really annoying, and i think needs to be solved. it is how breaking cobwebs without a sword or shears takes as long as breaking stone with fists.

in my opinion, it would usually be very quick to break cobwebs with fists in real life, but in minecrafts, it takes arould 7.5s to destroy 1 web block. usually it would be around 1 second. while it would drop string with a sword, it wouldnt with fists. it still keeps the speed of breaking webs with a sword.

My thoughts on block breaking speeds:

Fists:          1.5
Wood.        1.0
Stone.        0.7
Iron.           0.4
Diamond.   0.2
Gold.          0.1
Shears are instant.

Actually breaking a cobweb with a sword is faster than using your fists.

I assume by how much they slow you down that they are very thick, so I would say that trying to clear them with your fists would just get them tangled. You need something sharp, like a sword I guess.
Minecraft makes me feel like I'm three. Playing with blocks and afraid of the dark.

Well, I guess, but this isn't real life, webs dont get tangled in a blocky world.

Minecraft isn't supposed to be realistic.

That's kind of the point of cobwebs - it's hard to get out of them unless you're prepared. Being able to destroy them in a second kind of defeats their anoyingness.

Sorry, while realism has its place, it only has its place if it adds gameplay value.

I don't see minecraft cobweb as normal cobweb. I mean they are bigger, stronger and "gluer" (?). That's why I don't see any problem with the actual system.
