"While ARM chipsets may be primarily built into phones and tablets today, in the future ARM will be significant on the PC hardware platform as well"
Taken straight from the Mozilla blog post. It WILL affect PC users.
Let's just stop this now before it turns into a flamewar. Everyone can draw their own conclusions.
That's in the future. It will be a long time before ARM holds a decent chunk of the desktop market. Windows 8 will be long gone by the time that happens so your point is moot.

Nobody's perfect, so neither is Hannah Montana Linux, but it's pretty great.

They all suck. They just suck differently. Sort of like prostitutes.

Maybe, maybe not. But this makes me wonder, why the hell would MS only do this to the mobile version of Windows 8? It makes no sense.
I tried running it in a VM and failed every time.. Bad iso of it maybe? Different error on each one (Microsoft virtualpc, virtualbox, and VMware player) this was a while ago but I really want to try the latest preview, I think I checked the SHA and it was fine..

I can't spell, don't shoot me for it! Computer: Intel i5 2500k (Not overclocked for now) 8GB DDR3, 60GB agility3 SSD, 1TB 7200rpm storage, HIS-AMD HD6870. 3 1080p Screens, and one 17 inch, running on the HD3000 and the 6870.

I've been running all versions of 8 fine in the latest version of Virtualbox (as seen in the screenshots).

Try redownloading the ISOs.
Just to add that, those that use VMware Fusion and Player "I think" you can now emulate windows 8 in it with ease. However Workstation has yet to get a update "grumbles...".
Ok, re-downloading, didn't want to due to my slow speed, but I want to see if I hate Windows 8.

Interesting, from what I know windows 8 would hate on VMware 8 regardless. Guess was just something with windows 8 or certain setups. VMware Workstation 9 has exclusive support for it though, but im not gonna upgrade for awhile. Guess I can now safely download and try windows 8 in VMware Workstation. If not, I will just use virtual box.
From the VMware Workstation 9 feature list. Best in Class Windows 8 Support
To help you and your organization evaluate Windows 8, master the Metro UI and test your applications, VMware Workstation 9 is optimized for running Windows 8 virtual machines and running on Windows 8 PCs. Easy Install simplifies the task of creating Windows 8 virtual machines, Unity mode will intelligently scale windows with Metro applications and multi-touch support will ensure you get the true Windows 8 experience in a virtual machine.
As much as some of the features really intrigue me, some of the hidden menus and gestures are really a giant pain.
They still haven't fixed how UNUSABLE it is with more than 1 monitor as well. If you don't hit that 10x10px spot dead on, the menu won't show up. Even in RTM.

Wow, thats REALLY bad for me, I couldn't live without my three monitors..

I'm sure it will be fixed eventually, but having to bring my mouse to the corners of my main monitor (in the middle) is a pain because the mouse keeps slipping onto the monitors on the side.
Awww....that ability might have been enough to get me to upgrade. I like my 16-bit games.
Most games, even the more graphically intensive ones, can run fine in a VM like Virtualbox.
We're at a point where the most intense games of that era can be successfully emulated in that way. (Not that that is really surprising, i mean, we're emulating the PS2 and the Wii which were both after the era in question).

The same predictions were made by Sun in 1996.
Windows 8 x64 cannot run 16-bit programs.
Maybe to prevent users from downloading shitty third party browsers and blaming the OS. That's my best guess.
I was able to install older 16 bit programs on the dev and consumer previews of x64.......
edit: Well I'll be damned, they did remove it. Doesn't work in RTM or the release preview.
Can't imagine why.

WORKS FOR ME (TM)
What version do you have to ask. And its been a good week or 2 since I have checked.
RTM from MSDN.
I meant of VMware Workstation. Version 8 last I recall dun really like Windows 8 "regardless of release/version". However Vmware Workstation 9 does.
Yeah I just realized that. From About box:
8.0.0 build-471780
