Recipe:
4 obsidian blocks in a plus shape, with a diamond in the center.
[size=small]Obsidian Rods: Just like sticks, these rods are used to craft tools. [/size]
2 obsidian block on the left, 2 blaze rods on the right.
[size=small]Obsidian Tools/weapons: Obsidian tools are crafted just like any other, using obsidian gemstones as the tool material, and obsidian rods in place of sticks. These tools have a durability of 2000, and can NOT be enchanted. (Balancing attempts).[/size]
[size=small]Obsidian Bow! Same recipe as a normal bow, but with obsidian rods instead of sticks. Currently uses normal arrows and does not add any damage, however it has a higher critical chance. The bow has 700 uses, almost twice as much as a normal bow, and, like the tools, can NOT be enchanted.
Note: currently, there's a bug where the bow draw animation doesn't play correctly.[/size]
Emerald tools!
Emerald items are in this mod as well. Emerald tools resemble gold tools: they are mainly for show, and sacrifice durability for fast harvest times:
a harvest speed of 15x (compared to gold's 12x)
a durability of 750 uses.
deal the same amount of damage as diamond, and can harvest the same blocks that diamond can.
they also have a super high enchantability of 35 (as a comparison, diamond's normal enchantability is 10 and gold's is 22).
Emerald tools are crafted exactly like diamond tools, replacing the diamonds with plain emeralds. Current emerald items include the standard tools (hatchet, pickaxe, hoe, and shovel), as well as an emerald sword.

Version 1.1 is underway and should hopefully be up by Sunday night, if not, Monday.
Current plans for update include:
-Durability of tools will now be 25% more durable than diamond. (Around 2000 uses)
-Tools will now harvest 1.2x faster than diamond.
-Obsidian bow will be getting updates, most likely adding obsidian arrows, which will do more damage than standard arrows.
-Possibilities of an obsidian armor set!
This is an AMAZING mod! I like the way you balanced the mod through the use of the obsidian gemstones. I do have a few questions/suggestions, though.
- Is there a reason that you can't enchant the weapons/tools other than for balancing purposes? Because if not, I think that that should be taken out. They already are balanced through the difficulty of obtaining the materials.
- The Obsidian bow should be, in itself, more powerful than the normal bow without the addition of arrows. It could even be as simple as a faster draw time -- something that you cannot get from an enchanted normal bow -- or just more power/knockback.
- I like the idea of the obsidian armor set. Maybe with the equivalent of the blast resistance enchantment for diamonds (along with the added general protection addition)?

The sole reason you can't enchant is due to balancing. I too feel like they should be enchantable in some way. As opposed to normal enchanting, I also had the idea of just making "upgrades": putting the tool, or bow, or armor, in the center of a crafting table, and then the upgrade item around them. (For example, obsidian helmet with obsidian block around it would enchant it with Blast protection III, perhaps a sword with pistons around it would give knockback, and so on. For people who don't use enchantment viewer mods or don't know what the symbols in the enchanting table translate into, this would mean you can have guaranteed enchantments, at the cost of more resources. I'm not sure yet if I want to fully add in that system, or if I should make it it's on mod on the side...ya know?
As for the bow, it was a last minute addition I thought would be enjoyed, and clearly it has It will definitely be getting attention in my next update.
Look at everything before you comment, it is considerably harder to get these Obsidian Tools that with other Obsidian Tools mods.
Also, how about adding some Emerald tools, make them somewhat OP as they are harder to find (as an ore) than diamonds; maybe like gold tools, fast yet weak.

that sounds great one thing I forgot to add to the OP
..the obsidian pickaxe can harvest obsidian blocks about 3x faster than diamond. (Adding it now)
I plan on releasing an update before the end of the weekend with a few new items. If anyone has some suggestions, post here or shoot me a pm.
