Ok, I'm using a big font.
Ok, I'm using a tiny font.
Ok, I'm using a good font. On with the tut:
How to manually change your Minecraft characters skin:
Step 1) Get WinRAR or 7Zip

2) Go into Windows Explorer (Not Internet explorer, the one Explorer that lets you browse your files(
3) Go to C:\Users\<YOURNAMEHERE>\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin

4) Right click the Executable Jar file named Minecraft

5) In the menu that comes up, eitherL
WinRAR: Open With > WinRAR Archiver
7Zip: 7Zip > Open Archive

6) Get a skin that you like from minecraftskins.com

7)Rename it char

8) In the opened archive, go to "mobs" and delete char.png

9) Drag and drop the picture you renamed char into the archive

10) Close Minecraft if it is open

11) Open Minecraft

12) Press either:
Laptops: fn + f5
Desktops: f5
while in a game or world in Minecraft

13: Look at your now-epic looking character =D

This is the preferred way to do it if you use a cracked version of Minecraft. If you have premium, just change it under 'Profile' on minecraft.net

Yeah so i got stuck at step 4 cuz i don't have any Executable Jar file named "Minecraft" . Instead i have a folder named Versions and in it i have "1.6.4", 1.6.2, and 1.5.2 and usually i install mods and stuff into that so i don't get what to do...even if i open those files it doesn't have "mobs" or "char" in it

open the version you use in 7-zip or winzip, go to assets, minecraft, textures, entity and scroll down until you find "steve.png"
rename your skin "steve" and replace it with the original steve skin (if you want to keep it, save it somewhere else so you can set it back whenever you want using the same method)
