This plugin ruins all originality in servers. A world that took you 3 months to create? Someone downloads it and puts it on his own server in under a day. This was a good concept, but terrible news for creative builders. I realize you want to get your buildings off, however there is most likely an easier way to do this. I saw someone trying to get the MineZ map using this. For what? To use on your own server? What about how hard those builders worked?


Just a few thoughts.

This topic has been brought up many times before. This plugin does not download any content (Maps), the game (Minecraft) does that.Once the map data is on the clients computer the plugin only writes the cashes data to a file.Keeping in mind the majority of players of this game are kids, it would be best to aim your attentions at keeping these kids entertained on your server. I doubt any kid wants to play alone on any map, regardless of its professional artistic quality. I'm sorry someone downloaded your map Posted Image

Ok so this mod works fine but I can't seem to find the information I am looking for. I am using this to download many of my personal builds from a SMP server and I have builds extrememly far apart on the map but can use /home and /warps to get there. When the save file goes to become a single player map I don't have that option (and don't want to mod).

How do I go about changing the name of my saves so that I can save more than one single player map from the same SMP map?

Something like this..
1. Login, move to an area you want to download and start the download.
2. Move around in the area you want to save, then stop the download and logout.
3. Rename the directory in your %appdata%/.minecraft/saves/SERVERNAME to SERVERNAME-area1.
4. Repeat 1-3 as necessary (but call the directory area2, area3, etc).

Each save directory should include just the area you downloaded. I'm not sure how the player start position will react but let us know how it works.

I can't believe i overlooked doing it this way. Derp. I guess I was just mainly wonderingif the mod had the ability to change savename etc... at this time. I will post back regarding starting posion when I get a chance to DL some different builds. Thanks for the prompt reply.

There is an option in the menu to change the name of the save but it doesn't change the name of the directory. It will show up in the single player menu with the new name but it writes the data into the same directory. I'd like to be able to do both but haven't gotten around to it.

I just posted World Downloader for 1.5 at the top of the thread.
Functionality has not changed from the previous version but the code changed to you will need to update. I'm aware of a few bugs and features I want to get in, but the update was my top priority. Let me know if you find any issues.

make the download toggle a chat command and not a menu button? this is what i did in my fork

i'll try
my fork for WDL's code is mixed up with lots of other mods I'm making code... so yeah, confusing -_-

Is there any chance that this brilliant mod will be made Forge compatible in the future? I am struggling to get this mod to work with Feed the Beast - Ultimate v1.0.1. I used this mod so many times in past years, and I really miss this extremely helpful tool. I use it to give myself a copy of my SMP base so that I can experiment with complicated builds in single-player before committing the resources in SMP. Please, please consider making this mod Forge compatible.

Remove Forge from your installed mods. As said before, WDL never will be forge compatible you'll have to wait for 1.6 or 1.7 for Minecraft API.

The 1.5.1 MCP 744 is up , look at Searge tweet 1 down. I was going to compile my mods thought I'd just let you know :)

Silent update on minecraft 1.51 av?.class files changed and MCP 744 pre2 posted on searges' twitter. Although it did not affect my mods it could affect WDL if it uses those classes , Just to let you know all minecraft issues solved via tracker as of 3:00pm Swed Time

Any update on that 1.5.1 update? I'm really looking forward to it. Although it said it wasn't compatible with ModLoader in my MagicLauncher on 1.5, I was still able to use it even though there were 6 or 7 errors. I tried the 1.5 with 1.5.1 and it didn't work so I'm hoping you can get this up soon :D

I have been trying to get to this every night.. It's high priority for me actually but not as high as pleasing my boss and wife. My best guess at this point is Saturday night but someone is welcome to grab the code if they have urgent need.
