Hello the fantastic commuinty of minecraft!

Recently, I have logged onto my minecraft and tryed to update I get this error:
Failed to login: java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect

I As of do not know why this error occurs I have uninstalled all of my java and reinstalled the java needed to run minecraft.

I Now try to see if it works and it still dont, I have tryed to login into several different servers, they dont work either.

My single player works, and I have changed updates, from 1.3 > 1.2.3 > newest update, my minecraft had worked before, but this is quite strange why it wont allow me to logon to servers.

Please help me minecraft commuinty!
Any useful advice is appriciated!

When you start the launcher, does the news page show up correctly?

No, its a grey backgrounded page with this at the top:

<html><body><font color="#808080"><br><br><br><br><br><br><br><center>Failed to update news<br>java.net.SocketException: Permission denied: connect</center></font></body></html>

Go to windows control panel, java, java tab, view button,

Then add this line to runtime parameters for each entry under the user and system tabs.

-Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true

It may or may not.  Your problem could be entirely different.
