Hey, Ty for paying attention.
I recently changed my system from Vista to XP because all of the games were slow and shit, now most of them work fine.. but the biggest reason was to get minecraft faster.

So I downloaded the launcher again and stuff, and I got this error:

I have no idea what to do, I downloaded the new video driver for my graphics card...  download java.. and still getting this error..

It said that my graphics card driver's Version is. 6.14.10.4670

game booster says, that it's outdated and that there should be newer version 9.0.2

Well I couldn't find it.. so I need your help. please.

I have a friend who is getting this error message PRECISELY on Windows XP.  She too has upgraded Java and video card drivers, with no success in getting the game to download.

Someone knowledgeable please come to our assistance!!

I don't get it cause It's the same computer... only with windows Xp now... :s It should be able to work.

So, did you not need help after all, did you expect windows xp, which was developed before your gpu was to have the drivers built-in?

jimmy that's not the way I read the question.  MaxImumoccupancy120 told us that he downloaded the drivers for the gpu; so did my friend.  He didn't expect them to be in XP.  The point was, even after downloading the updated drivers he's getting this error message.  We don't know whether your proposed solution even works; we haven't heard from either player yet.  

So "you did not need help after all" seems inaccurate.  In fact we do not yet know whether this situation can be fixed as you suggest.   Though I'm sure everyone appreciates your help with this.

now then, The driver reinstallation did not work, but I deleted my java and downloaded Java 6 update 32 and java 6 update 33 JDK .
then I made a shortcut of my minecraft launcher. Right click - properties - shortcut - target.. and I added: -J-Xms640m , in the end.

So it looks like thisin the end : ....Minecraft.exe" -J-Xms640m

And now it works

Sry, I was away from the forum a while. Anyways, u have ur minecraft launcher right ? make a shortcut out of it, then
all you do is Right click on it  - pick properties - then pick shortcut -there is a [ target ] box in there. Now all you do is add this:  -J-Xms640m  ,
at the very end of the minecraft.exe
so it looks something like this:  ....Minecraft.exe" -J-Xms640m

save changes and open your minecraft from the shortcut. Easy

shortcut? how do you make that?

I've got an idea this will make minecraft slower *but it will run right* so the idea I came up with open up .minecraft *open windows then pop in %appdata%* then turn openGL to off in options.txt the prob is that minecraft can't start openGL mode correct? so if you just remove it. it might work *I don't know I never had this error*

Hi there,

I had the same error "OpenGL nullpointer exception" running Minecraft on my laptop. For me the fix was to turn off fullscreen mode. Since it crashes before I can change that setting, I changed it in the options file:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\options.txt

fullscreen:false

If I switch back to full screen, when in the game, it crashes again. So I guess I can't use full screen for now. It worked before, but I'm ok with this workaround.

I have this same problem and have tried all the suggested fixes and none of these have worked.  I am using a Google Chrome Browser to run the Demo.

Any suggestions on how I can get this fixed?
