My suggestion for a future update for Minecraft is to add a neutral mob "Ostrich" that will attack when provoked, and lay big eggs (blocks) that are hard to break with hands.
-that they are tamable with wheat and rideable after that.
-That the Ostrich attack some other mobs/players who come to close to the eggs.
-Maybe that they only spawn rare in the deserts.
-That if you kill an ostrich that it drops ostrich feathers and leather(or normal cow leather).
-That if you are riding an ostrich and you are looking around that the ostrich looks where you are looking but it slow in turning.
-use WASD to move around with it when you are riding it.
-that the ostrichs can't fly but can run very fast for a short time.
-you can use the pig saddle to ride them
-that they stuck their head in the sand if there's a creeper close by.
-that you can make cake out of the eggs if you can break it with a pickaxe or another tool (except hands)
-requires regular feeding with apples/wheat otherwise it will slow down with walking (when riding) and eventually take damage from starving

I hope you like the idea if not than sorry for wasting your time.

I like it! It should definetnly be in minecraft. Maybe you could steer these ones, instead of those useless pigs that go no where you want ever.

p.s. you don't happen to have technic pack do you? because this sounds like something off there.

You should, u can ride horses! On an on topic note, what if these ostriches stuck their head in the sand, and then turned invisible! It would be like ostriches think, but its true. Also, you should have to make a special saddle for it

the special saddle is a good idea I will add it, you know that the "ostriches stuck their head in the sand" is a joke, they don't actually do that but it could go with. maybe without the invisible thing but just that you see them with their head in the sand because of a creeper maybe.

I quote Don Knotts, "Why are there so many ostriches? There are too many ostriches! The brochure said there would only be a few ostriches! This is a terrible vacation!"

Any idea that lets me do that in Minecraft, I like.

Sounds like a good idea, but They should have some disadvantages so that they are not too much better than pigs.

I am not sure if this is a disadvantage but maybe that they only spawn in the desert but can be breeded anywhere.

Don't care for the idea too much. I like that minecraft has the odd feature of pigs being a sole mount for a player, rather than it being something different. I just trying to imagine ostriches implemented in the game just sounds odd, not to mention how strange the model would likely look.
Need or want a cheap reliable sever host? Well, Obsidian Hosting is just the right place!

Not really much of a disadvantage. Currently it is a lot better than a pig for various reasons including:
can be healed
saddle can be crafted
does pretty much everything a pig does and more.
Doesn't need a special item to steer it

So there needs to be a reason that some people would say "I'd rather have a pig"

Well the healing you are right on I admit.
maybe that you can use the same saddle as you use for a pig.
If you use an ostrich to ride you need to feed it because it will get tired maybe. or give it some rest.
About how to steer it I don't have an idea sadly...

thanks for pointing this out btw.

How about this:
When riding an ostrich, you can look around and the ostrich will look where you are looking (but it's quite slow at turning) you can use wasd to make it move. It would be pretty fast.
BUT
The ostrich requires regular feeding, if you do not give it wheat/apples/whatever regularly it will slow down and eventually start taking damage from starvation!
