Going to make this thread before a flood of them arrives.
Minecraft session servers appear to be down. Attempts to login to any server will result in a
"java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 503 for..."
with a URL a http://session.minecraft.net/game/joinserver.jsp?user=, etc.
yup it's the same for everyone. I'd suggest staying logged in in case minecraft.net goes down again...
Hopefully they fix it soon!
Obviously if we are posting here we already are logged out and trying to connect lol...
Same problem here as well, sad.. I actually quit a few month's ago because Minecraft.net's login server crashed so often, and the first time I try to play online tonight on a server here we go again. Obviously they still have not fixed the issue *sigh.* So glad I bought this back in alpha at the cheaper price.
The Minecraft community in general isn't about "respecting and caring" either. It largely consists of narcissistic children who disregard those other than themselves and like to spout anger, abuse, troll and flame. It is also why any competent multiplayer builder either owns a private server or one where build allowance requires in-depth vetting. If Minecraft was about "respecting and caring" these measures would clearly not be necessary.
Very helpful link, check on it to let you know when it's up and running, bookmark this, I am, Go here first before making post on forums. otherwise, it's cluttering. T_T We don't want to clutter. Don't worry, you're not alone, we are all having the same problem. Anyway, here you go, book mark this link: http://help.mojang.com/
Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information
Mojang should hire someone to be on it or have shifts so we don't have to wait to be on servers. It's back up! TELL YOUR KIDS TELL YOUR WIFE CAUSE THEY UP ALL OUT HAR!

Right. If it effects everyone, that includes you. That being said, this is affecting me as well, so how do we know when the server's due back?
